We have been using it as a hatcher. Our other incubator was over loaded with eggs. So really needed a hatcher. The manufacturer sold this as a 100 egg incubator. This is a Lyon Electric Company heating assembly. It's used but in pretty much like new condition and does heat up. You are bidding on a Professional Grade Helix temperature control module. These modules are amazingly accurate! I had this one hooked up to my incubator. The incubator was 2' X 2' X 6 feet tall. I had the temperature probe set in one of the middle trays to maintain a constant temperature of 86 degrees. I had 6 75 watt red floods mounted on the back of the incubator. The floods would light up bright until it reached appropriate temperature and then would only light up dimly when the temperature dropped below 86. I used this to incubate high end python eggs. It is accuate to plus or minus 1/2 degree of the set temperature! You can plug in whatever heat sorce you choose. Adjustments are made using the two tiny screws on the front of the module using a tiny(eye glass repair kit) scewdriver. You can set high and low temperature. You won't ... morefind a more accurate or dependable module. The whitish discolation on the bottom of the module was from white latex paint when I painted my incubator. This is a used Marsh TX6-7 incubator by Lyons. Though an older model it is still a nice unit. It does include an auto egg turner. 2 rings, an additional base screen(use only 1 at a time) and 5 wicks. Included with the unit is an older combo ring that can take up to 84 variety sized eggs from small pheasant size to finch sized and a pheasant sized ring that can hold up to 26 eggs. Bantam chicken eggs will fit per the company. Sorry. You will need to purchase a bigger ring for regular sized chicken eggs. There is a spoke missing from the pheasant ring, but it is cleanly missing, no sharp edges. It has an auto-egg turner that will slowly turn eggs over the course of an hour- first one way and then back the other the next hour. I did have some trouble with very small eggs turning when using the test button on the top of the auto-turner because it turns quickly to test it. But when set up and left alone to turn on its own they turned ok. Eggs should fit well. But not too snuggly between the metal spokes for best effect. The hook for the auto turner can be adjusted for different size eggs turning, it can be tricky to adjust until you get the hang of it. Unhook autoturner several days prior to hatching by simply unhooking it from the dome handle. It is very easy to adjust the temperature and the humidity from the outside of the unit. Negating the need to open the incubator once it is set up for adjustments. I recommend setting up ahead of time, it can take a day or two to adjust the humidity based on its location in the house. Below that it reads in small letters. for duplicate fob/ send 15c postage" Below that is a string of even smaller letters! Hard to read! I think it says. whitehead hoag co. newark n. j. Very likely an 1890 to 1910 vintage item based on research. Note below: In 1898. The Hawkeye Incubator Co. of Newton, Iowa sold a ``ratchet-slat`` washer which did not work well but was one of the first washing machines ever to be sold in the United States. The idea was picked up by others and improved which led to better washing machines being produced and sold in Newton. ... moreIowa. The fob is 46mm tall and 39mm wide. I would suspect that more of these were once made and are now lost or forgotten. I cannot find info on another identical item with exhaustive internet searches. Ugly, but Reliable! Little Giant Incubator for Parts or Hatching.
Okay. Yes this thing looks rough. My kids were wrestling near it last spring and fell on it, so my husband did the redneck thing and fixed it.with duct tape. The eggs that were in it at the time went on to hatch(well, the 20 or so that werent crushed anyway) to our happy surprise. I continued to incubate with it through this January, but I have bought a GQF, so hubby says that"old reliable" must go before i add it to that great pile of odds and ends in the basement that i am convinced i will find a future use for: The lid is missing one vent plug, and there are four small holes where i removed the fan kit as well. The innards work and this incubator could be used for parts or incubating. I have hatched in it recently, but i would recommend using a second incubator as a hatcher, since it doesnt hold the high humidity thats best for ... morehatching. A Man bought some for a 1502 recently and said they worked and fit well. Someone left negitive Feed Back saying they wont fit. They will probably fit some other brand name incubators as well. Two different customers have told me these flats fit the Dickey Incubators also. But did not state the model number of it.
