Unusual Antique Scientists Tin Laboratory Alcohol Heat Lamp
This highly unusual lamp was used in a laboratory probably in the 1860-1880 period. It originally had 6 caps for each of the spouts. Depending on how much heat was desired for a specific experiment a certain number of spouts would be capped to get the right amount of heat. For example if lots of heat was needed the scientist would use all of the spouts but if the scientist wanted a cooler temperature he would put the caps on a few of the spouts. The varying sizes and the large amount of spouts allowed the user to have very good control of the experiment temperature. The lamp itself probably ran on alcohol and is made of tin. Except for the spout area and the cap which are made of brass. By design the usual wick regulator has been replaced with a brass cylinder that goes up and down serving as a flame extinguisher. The lamp is 3 1/2” in diameter and is also 3 1/2”tall. Since there is no wick knob I would believe it to be an alcohol lamp but the sides of the metal works appear that it would hold a chimney, so I really cannot say what it is and I could find nothing else like it. The pinwheel design glass base is in beautiful condition and has a"2" embossed on the bottom. The cap is rusted but removes easily and the neck of the lamp base is 1" outside diameter. Up for one day is this =miniture alcohol lamp. It is not marked but acid test Sterling silver four times. It weights 56.3 pennyweight or 2.8 Ounces. There is some cotton included in that weight but not a great deal. The body is solid forthe most part. I am not selling for scrap but for collecting or use for fondue or what ever. Vintage Watch Maker Multi-faceted Alcohol Lamp, Cobalt Blue/glass Wick Cover
ESTATE Find Vintage cobalt blue alcohol lamp with glass screw on cover. And wick. Jewelers lamp. Watchmaker lamp. Patented. With multi- faceted sides by Norman Clark of Sterling, Illinois June 28 1883, per info on the Lamp Works web sight. His design was to prevent frequent fires. It allows the lamp to be in 3 different positions. It was advertised in the swart hill&company trade catalogue in 1897 and advertised as The New Simplicity Lamp. The design allows the lamp to be situated at any angle to assist the jeweler and/or watch maker. Today's bottles are colorless glass- 120 years later. Those made in the late 1800's were cobalt blue or amber colors The glass tube cover screws on and off easily. The top screws off easily too. The glass is clean and not cloudy. No chips or cracks. Model 201 Pyro incandescent alcohol mantle lamp burner w/ original box & guide
You are bidding on a Model 201 Pyro incandescent mantle lamp alcohol burner made of brass. It is in the original box with the original wrapper paper. Also included is the original instruction guide/tag that came with it. I'm unsure of the status of the wick that is on it. It appears that the burner has been used so this might be a replacement. There is also a wick stub which may have been from the original wick. Also included is something that I'm unsure of what it is. It has a Montgomery Ward tag on it as seen in the pics. Unsure of the burners relevance to this item but it was found in the box so I'm including it. The pump handle and lever both move smoothly. The original box is a bit out of shape and some separation in the corners as seen in the pics. Burner is marked O"SOL. A vintage glass & brass lab alcohol lamp?
Here we have a vintage lamp that I really don't know what kind of liquid was used for lighting it. Some co worker at the shop told me it was used in a lab? ANTIQUE/ VINTAGE- GLASS- ALCOHOL/ KEROSENE LAMP- BURNER No cracks or chips! The lamp measures approx. 3" in width. Depending on how far the cork is up affects the height. What I believe is the furthest in it will go will give it a height of approx. 3" Marked on the bottom with T.C W- Co. USA, and 4- S- 50 Around the neck of the lamp there is a band of ground polished glass which covers a cork stopper. This is used to protect the cork and gives you something to hold onto to wiggle the cork out of the lamp to fill and/or replace the wick. And ensures a tight fit for the glass top. There is a copper/metal disk with some corrosion. That covers the top of the ground polished neck, the disk has a tube that sticks out of the top& one that sticks out from the bottom. The tube that sticks out from the bottom runs through the cork stopper. ... moreNot sure how far it goes through but it is meant for the wick to pass through. The wick feeds through the cork stopper's tube. Which also runs through the copper/metal disk of the lamp and the tube that sticks out from the top. Now it is ready to be lit, and then it is topped with a ground polished glass top, to snuff the flame. If you find any residual left from having been used. Please know that I did what I could to clean it up! Lamp dates 1880's-1915. Mold blown with mold marks visible upper portion of glass. The item is being sold"as is" because of the age and the nature of the item. Antique Miniature Brass Kerosene Oil Alcohol Lamp Unusual Handle Dimmer Signed Hi everyone. This is an Unusual Miniature Brass Alcohol or Kerosene Lamp. Spring loaded handle adjusts for height and also controls the amount of flame. Signed on the base with a stamp. It's a T inside of a cross. Pictured below. Beautiful Patina on the brass. There is one dent on the lower rim. The fill is not threaded on this lamp. I found that a bit unusual as well. Seems like it seals very well. Measures 2 3/8 inches diameter. 3 1/2 inches tall.
