With paint flaking off the front and sides below the hot plate. The unit also has stains on the hot plate and sides of the unit. None of this however effects the operation of the unit which has been powered up. Tested to ensure the plate heats and the set points work. I do not know what is supposed to happen with the stirrer function, but when turned on the unit shakes a little and makes noise. No accessories(except the power cable which is attached) are included. Both the heating and stirrer work great and the digital reading tells both the RPMs as well as temperature. Don't let the very light staining fool you. This is a great piece and very good conditions. The pictures make any staining look worse than it is. Besides, you want this because its a work horse, not because it looks absolutely perfect.
