Two Women Stirring Pot Filled with Food -- SAN BLAS KUNA INDIAN MOLA
HAND MADE! 16.25 x 10 Two Layers This is a recently made mola which I believe depicts two women. Judging by the head scarves, stirring a large pot of food, which is to be shared by many in the Kuna community. The maker has used a teal bottom layer and burgundy top layer. The sticks are hot pink/orange. There are other appliques in myriad colors. She has allowed the bottom layer to remain larger than the top so that the mola effectively has a little frame of teal. I like to see these new molas demonstrating how the Kuna live now because they are similar to the molas I collected long ago. The fabrics are different. As are the sizes. It is interesting to see that some of the subjects are still the same. I sometimes forget to state that my molas are hand made and what the quality of the stitching is.
