There are a couple of places where the steel is slightly tarnished and slide holders are a little bent from years of use. There is also some very minor corrosion on them as well. The piece comes with several accessories such as two sets of eye pieces, the original tool to loosen the scope, to swivel on its base and the original bottle of oil to lube it's parts.All this and more is wrapped up in a timeless handcrafted wood box with lock and key. I don't think you could find a more splendid microscope from this era. A really beautiful tool for today or an awesome centerpiece. CASED Antique c.1860’s brass MICROSCOPE and accessories by HARTNACK PRAZMOWSKI PARIS Description: A well-preserved instrument of excellent quality. This early Continental style microscope is signed on the draw tube, E. Hartnack& A. Prazmowzki, Rue Bonaparte 1, Paris" A serial number of 14939 is stamped onto the inside edge of the fitted case and lens box, probably dates the instrument to the mid to late 1860’s. This German brass microscope is equipped with an assortment of accessories and an elegant wooden case. A leaded brass horseshoe-shaped foot supports the microscope. Which is mounted on a brass pillar that holds the mirror, stage, condenser, and body tube. The microscope is finished in lacquered brass. A plano-concave mirror is mounted on a pivoted arm beneath the condenser. Focus is achieved by a rackwork set for coarse focus ... morethat translates the body tube up and down with respect to the stage and micrometer knob for fine focus. The eyepieces are of a Huygenian-style containing two lenses. And the interchangeable objectives are screwed into the nosepiece at the other end of the body tube. A slide out sub stage plate and further accessories are stored in lidded box. The microscope case, which is lined with purple velvet, contains a wide spectrum of optical pieces, including spare eyepieces and other assorted parts(please see images provided) A small. Green leather covered case contains three objectives and three diaphragm stops. The lens case is stamped with the same serial number as the larger case. Three eyepieces, marked as 2, 3, and 4 complete the optical system. The entire optical system works well, producing crisp, sharp images of good contrast throughout the extensive range of magnifications. It even retains the leather padding that covers the bottom of the base. This FV400 scope is the industry standard bench-top video microscopes designed for inspecting patch cords and ferrules just after polishing. In general the 400 models are used after polishing to inspect for fine defects incurred during the polishing or cleaning process. The display is mainly the critical core area. The adapter is a 2.5mm slant adapter for APC(green ends) fibers such as SC/FC/ST types. A similar setup from scope/display from JDSU will run you over $1500. This one comes with a 4.3" LCD screen so you don't need an external monitor. This saves table space. It has built in controls for brightness/contrast adjustment. I buy.
