This does require and external lighting mechanism. I have always used a small handheld torch to light this, as it can be tricky to get going at times and will go out easily at a"candle light" level. Very useful in many instances from hobby to craft to scientific and lab applications. This brand is known for their kitchen equipment and it's of great quality. This one I believe retails around the $90-$125 range. I was going to keep it and use it for Ukrainian egg decorating(Pysanky) But found something else to use, so that's another example of a great use for this item.

Here is what I see: A large Bunsen Burner heats a little chamber of about 2 inches in diameter and 2 inches in depth. See the chamber opening with the cover removed in picture#12. The chamber, see picture#13& 14, is shielded by two bell shaped shields, see picture#10. The chamber has a cover in which center is a rod with a small blender attached. The blender is powered by an electric motor, see picture#11. The electric motor is connected with a flexible shaft(shaft is disconnected from motor, see picture#8) The cover of this little chamber has also a little ... moreround access hole or vent, see picture#15. Some gas(oxygen? or liquid? is being feed into the tube on the bottom end of one vertical tube and travels to the top of the tube where two connecting fittings stick out horizontally to the left. See picture#4. Two small rubber tubes(missing) then feed the gas to two small but long tubes(one missing, see bright spot in picture#18, on the left, see picture#5. The gas or liquid then exits through two nozzles or orifices seen in picture#6. By turning the rod shown in picture#6 and#7, three openings, see picture#17, reveal the little chamber below and at the same time the nozzles or orifices are being lowered towards the openings, see picture#5 and#6. The button which opens the three openings at the end of the shaft and is shown in picture#8. The cast iron base has the letters"PR" PRECISION SCIENTIFIC CO. embossed in the casting. See picture#19. For sale are 3 vintage 1970's Bunsen burners which are all in perfectly very good working order. The grey and silver one's were made by Analite Ptd Ltd in Australia and don't appear to have had much use. The other burner has no makers name and has been used extensively and is probably some what older than the others but comes with two attachments for different types of flame and is still quite useable. They measure from 13cm to 22cm in height. Feel free to ask any questions. Two separate gas pipe tap feeds marked O and H. The angle of the flame is adjusted with one wheel and the height of the lime with another. This high quality all brass lamp was principally used for scientific/optical experiments. In excellent condition. And fully functioning, missing only the small cage to hold the lime rod and a small flame nozzle. Height 14" or 350mm. Weight 1780 grams. The Duboscq family were creators and makers of a large range of optical/scientific instruments including microscopes.
