Glass microscope slides, Pyrex glass beaker, litmus paper, and other odds and ends. One of the sets of glass slides was made by the A. S. Aloe Company of St. Louis 12. Missouri which went out of business in 1959. Nice for a collector or artist who likes to repurpose things.

WORKING SELF- PRIMING ALCOHOL PORTABLE BUNSEN BURNER I'm pretty excited to list this unusual Bunsen burner. Once the lid is on. It has only one moving part.What a simply smart design. You can see on the Bakelite adjustment knob PAT. APPL'D FOR AA. I'm guessing this was made in the US after Bakelite was invented in 1907. There are some US patents in 1907 and 1908 for burners that work in a similar fashion. The Germans. Swiss, and a few other countries have burners from that time frame that work on the same principal. It is possible that this was made outside the US. Someone may recognize the touch mark on the base. I have cleaned it up a little. And put in a new rubber seal. It does have a couple of dinks in the side of the fuel tank. The burner works as it should. You fill the tank about halfway with denatured alcohol screw the ... morelid on. Put a little alcohol in the pre-heater pan. Lite the fuel in the pan. And it heats the brass tube turning the alcohol into a gas for the Bunsen burner. When the pressure is high enough you can lite the main burner, sometimes it will ignite on it's own, without assistance. The burner is self sustaining until it runs out of fuel or you blow out the flame. The adjustment knob can be adjusted up to lower the flame after the burner is warmed up. This does require and external lighting mechanism. I have always used a small handheld torch to light this, as it can be tricky to get going at times and will go out easily at a"candle light" level. Very useful in many instances from hobby to craft to scientific and lab applications. This brand is known for their kitchen equipment and it's of great quality. This one I believe retails around the $90-$125 range. Here is what I see: A large Bunsen Burner heats a little chamber of about 2 inches in diameter and 2 inches in depth. See the chamber opening with the cover removed in picture#12. The chamber, see picture#13& 14, is shielded by two bell shaped shields, see picture#10. The chamber has a cover in which center is a rod with a small blender attached. The blender is powered by an electric motor, see picture#11. The electric motor is connected with a flexible shaft(shaft is disconnected from motor, see picture#8) The cover of this little chamber has also a little ... moreround access hole or vent, see picture#15. Some gas(oxygen? or liquid? is being feed into the tube on the bottom end of one vertical tube and travels to the top of the tube where two connecting fittings stick out horizontally to the left. See picture#4. Two small rubber tubes(missing) then feed the gas to two small but long tubes(one missing, see bright spot in picture#18, on the left, see picture#5. The gas or liquid then exits through two nozzles or orifices seen in picture#6. By turning the rod shown in picture#6 and#7, three openings, see picture#17, reveal the little chamber below and at the same time the nozzles or orifices are being lowered towards the openings, see picture#5 and#6. The button which opens the three openings at the end of the shaft and is shown in picture#8. The cast iron base has the letters"PR" PRECISION SCIENTIFIC CO. embossed in the casting. See picture#19.
