Unknown maker and age but it is made of some sort of plastic and cork-like material. The inside compartment that actually holds the ice measures 6 1/2 inches deep and 7 inches wide. It's very similar to Rosewood in appearance It is in original unrestored condition. This example is made in Demmark with a plastic bucket inside. This piece measures approx. 18 inches tall including the handle and 8 1/4 inches wide. This piece is in good condition with a removable top. It has a vey nicks and dings but nothing distracting. Wonderful antique Japanese Export silver ice bucket with amazing brightly colored enamel grape vine; that surrounds all around the bucket. The workmanship is excellent and the bucket is top quality. The age of the ice bucket is late 19 th Century circa 1880– 1920 and for its age it is in mint condition. There are no breaks. Cracks, missing piece or any other type of damage only natural age tarnish on the silver. The old hardware stores that used to sell these and other pieces would literally write the sale price DIRECTLY onto the ITEM for sale. Apparently, this once commanded an original price of $1.25.LOL Sorry, I can't meet it in 2013 SUPER COOL Piece! I've read about them and seen them in antique magazines and historical pictures. But this is the first one I've ever laid hands on. It has an iron housing that allows it to collapse into itself much like a tent or something. They used these on railroads.AND in old(new back then. automobiles.AND on the old Chuck Wagons travelling cross country to draw the water out of streams to carry back to the wagon.AND later in the military AND for firefighting because ... morethey were collapsable. The reason being that they were so"portable" They could be shrunk down to nothing to be easily transported and carried. Yet they were made of canvas and so were readily available to hold water. All of the iron"joints" on the piece collapse perfectly. NOT rusted or frozen like some you'll find(frozen up from years of use) The canvas is in wonderful condition with only ONE worn area(and because it's towards the TOP of the piece it really affects nothing. The lettering is faded on the bottom but enough of it is there to authenticate it as original. THIS PIECE has its' ORIGINAL metal handle WITH its' ORIGINAL black WOODEN turned handle(similar pieces I've seen are totally MISSING the metal handle AND the wooden turned one) Understandable as they were so often"collapsed" for transport and then the handle would get knocked off. This company patented these collapsible canvas buckets for the railroad.military.wagon.and early automotive industry in 1899 and they made them until they went out of business in 1920. VINTAGE RETRO MORGAN DESIGNS ICE BUCKET BRIGADE FAUX LEATHER BRASS HANDLE KNOB I THINK THIS GREAT ICE BUCKET COMES FROM THE 70'S. IT IS TALLER THAN MOST. IT STANDS 11" TALL AND IS 8" IN DIAMETER. THE INSIDE DIAMETER IS 6" SO THERE IS AN INCH OF INSULATION SURROUNDING THE BUCKET. VERY WELL MADE. IT IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. THE BRASS IS TARNISHED SOME AND NEEDS POLISHING. THERE IS TWO SMALL MARKS ON THE BUCKET TOWARDS THE BOTTOM( PICS 9&10) THE TOP OF THE LID LOOKS LIKE LUCITE AND THE INSIDE IS SIGNED MORGAN DESIGN(PIC 6) THE BUCKET IS ALSO SIGNED BUCKET BRIGADE AT THE BOTTOM(PIC 7) THE BOTTOM OF THE BUCKET HAS A LABEL(PIC 8) PLEASE VIEW ALL PICS AND EMAIL ANY QUESTIONS. Collectible Glass: Vintage Glass Ice Bucket- Culver? Frosted Squares Gold Circles- Unmarked- RARE. This vintage glass ice bucket appears to be made by Culver. It is consistent with the other patterns I found in my research. The ice bucket is in excellent condition. The only flaws are a few very minor scratches in the paint. The overall pattern colors are very bright. The ice bucket is 4 3/4" tall. Has a 5 3/4" diameter at the top, and a 4" diameter at the base. The pattern is frosted squares outlined in gold and gold circles with different patterns inside. Please see the photo.
