A hard to find early Simplex Lamp Vaporizer. Lamp is old soldered magnetic sheet metal iron or tin. Nicely cut out pattern body with double carrying handle on the back, signed little oil or alcohol font and burner, top bowl with cotton insert pan for the medical fluid, twist off nasal tube. George Bell of Brooklyn had an 1897 patent for similar vaporizer. This is probably an earlier version. Advertising for similar lamps indicates this was"Prescribed for Croup, Singers, Speakers, Grip, Laryngitis, Pneumonia, Bronchitis, Catarrh, Tuberculosis. The decal on the bottom says"For use with chafing dishes this Lamp is unequaled" Whatever that means! Definitely a piece from a different era. I'm not sure what kind of metal the"silver" is(steel? But there doesn't seem to be any rust. I don't know if this item would still be functional or not if you put alcohol in it, and am selling as is. Still a great display item! Thanks for looking! I think this is a jewelers alcohol burner. Although it is unmarked. There is a seam and a few bubbles in the glass. The open end has no threads for screwing any thing on to it. At first I thought it was a piece to a lightning rod, but can not be threaded through a rod. Perhaps some educated ebayer can inform me of what this really is. It is made of clear glass and use to hold red ink in it. The lid is there but it shows rust. The lid still has its cardboard insert/seal in it. Lid is 2-3/4” in diameter and 7/16” high. The bottle is 2-9/16” tall and 2” in diameter. The lid is removable from the jar. The label has had some of the red ink spilled on it in the past. The label reads: Sheaffer’s Skrip writing fluid Permanent#2 Red. 2oz 59 c.c. Made in U.S.A. W. A. Sheaffer Pen Co. Fort Madison Iowa, U.S.A. The glass reads on each side of the bottle“Bayer Aspirin” The bottle has a“2” and three additional symbols on the bottom of it. There is no lid. Overall height is 2-5/8” Width is 1-1/2” depth is 5/8” Outside diameter of opening is ¾” There is a very small chip on the rim of the opening. Bottle#4: This is an old Vicks Vapor Rub bottle. This vintage bottle is blue in color and has“VICKS VAPORUB” along with a triangle stamped in the glass on the bottom of the jar. The lid is rusted on. Bottle is 2½” tall and 2¾” in diameter. There seems to be no damage to the bottom of the jar. I can’t check the top due to the lid being rusted on. Bottle#5: Blue glass bottle/jar. I can’t read what’s left of the label. Brass alcohol lamp with metal base. Original as found finish on brass. Base was sanded. No name or markings. Rust on base only with no holes. Nice shelf display piece. About 5 inches tall and 3 1/4 inches wide less the finger loop. Thanks for looking

Vintage SMOOTH GLASS ALCOHOL LAMP
Vintage SMOOTH GLASS ALCOHOL LAMP The lamp has an inflated. Bulb-like container with a glass snuffer cap. The cap and top neck of the glass vessel are etched for a more secure and tighter fit. The glass container has a number of air-bubble inclusions suggesting that it is an early lamp. The wick holder appears to be made of some sort of ceramic. The small loop handle appears to have been handmade and attached to the container by hand. The flattened base of the lamp is 1 3/4 inches in diameter. Its maximum diameter is about 3 inches. The total height to the top of the cone-shaped wick cover. Or snuffer, is 3 1/2 inches. The lamp is unmarked and its origin is unknown. I see no marks to identify its manufacturer.
