Here's a set of three Victoreen Civil Defense Radiation Detectors. Model numbers CDV-715, CDV-717, and CDV-720(one each, and sold as a set) These are in working condition and have been refurbished. The meters function smoothly, and the units have been tested to pass battery check and to properly zero. All potentiometers(internal and external) have been treated with Deoxit SD5 compound to restore functionality, lubricate them, and improve electrical properties. All battery terminals, contacts, etc. have also been treated as well. Any capacitors, if found faulty, have been replaced. There is no corrosion an any of the battery terminals or on the battery holders. This service regimen should add another 20 years of service life to them. They may show some signs of wear on the exterior from handling and storage, but they are in very good mechanical ... morecondition. These are interesting simply as collectors items. Or can actually be utilized in the event of a nuclear disaster. These are not Geiger Counters- they are used for detecting much higher, damaging* levels of ionizing radiation. Here is a non-working"Cutie Pie" from the Atomic Age of yesteryear- the unit is cosmetically clean and the aluminized Mylar window. Though stretched in a couple of spots(see photo) is not torn or punctured.
