This family radiation measurement kit was made in the 1960's by the Bendix Corporation. This was made in a very interesting time in America's history; during the Cold War when there was constant tension with the Soviet Union. America lived in fear of a nuclear war. Hence the making of such a product. This kit Includes Charger CDV-756. Dosimeter CDV-746, Ratemeter CDV-736, Instruction Manuals and original packaging. The original battery was not in the package when I received it. It works with a"D" battery. I included one in the box. I popped it in and found that it works. According to the manual all parts are there, and there is also a bulb which may be a spare. Comes with Instruction and Maintenance Manual and also a pamphlet titled'How to use the 3 life savers in your kit" I do not see any corrosion on the metal parts. Side of box shows that the original suggested retail price was $24.95. I am a senior citizen that enjoys looking for treasures at auctions. Flea markets, and yard sales. This is a vintage Bendix Family Radiation Measurement Kit dating. I would guess, to the 1950s. It is in its original 8 3/4 x 7 1/4 x 3 inch box and comes with an instruction/maintenance manual, original packing ticket and even the original battery, which should probably be thrown away since it has a lot of corrosion on it. A relic from the cold war/bomb shelter era for your collection. The box shows wear wear from years of storage, as seen in photos.
