Cold War Vintage Civil Defense Radiation Meter Bendix Dosimeter and Charger
For sale at a fixed price is this cold war vintage Civil Defense Radiation Meter. It is designed to function together as a set and it consists of a Bendix Dosimeter Charger Model 906 CD V 750 and a Bendix CD V-138 Radiation Pocket Detector. The detector is placed on the charger to read. Recalibrate and charge up. Inside the charger runs on one flashlight battery(not included) This one has a scale of 0-200 Milliroentgens. The dosimeter does function with the charger and displays the scale. We have not tested it with a radiation source so we're not sure if it holds a charge or accurately displays radiation exposure and we are selling it as a collectible and curiosity. Condition is nice. Vintage Cold War Era "Family Radiation Kit" Mid Century-Bendix Corp.
This is a Family Radiation Kit from the Cold War era made by the Bendix Corporation Cincinnati Division. It comes in the original box and comes with instruction booklets. The parts consist of ratemeter and dosimeter(the metal and glass tubular pieces) and a charger(the metal box) The pieces are in good condition and were probably never used. The card board box has fading and tape marks but remains intact.

This was made in a very interesting time in America's history; during the Cold War when there was constant tension with the Soviet Union. America lived in fear of a nuclear war. Hence the making of such a product. This kit Includes Charger CDV-756. Dosimeter CDV-746, Ratemeter CDV-736, Instruction Manuals and original packaging. The original battery was not in the package when I received it. It works with a"D" battery. I included one in the box. I popped it in and found that it works. Vintage Family Radiation Measurement Kit Looks to be in good condition. But I am not familiar with this type of item. According to the manual all parts are there, and there is also a bulb which may be a spare. Comes with Instruction and Maintenance Manual and also a pamphlet titled'How to use the 3 life savers in your kit" I do not see any corrosion on the metal parts. Side of box shows that the original suggested retail price was $24.95. I am a senior citizen that enjoys looking for treasures at auctions. Flea markets, and yard sales. Lionel CDV 700 6b Geiger CD V 750 5b Dosimeter Bendix CD V138 Radiation Detector
If you've been following along. You know that we've been selling things from my uncles estate of which comes these 3 items. My uncle was an electronics collector who collected a little bit of everything. He also took meticulous care of his things and these items are no exception. They were found in his attic wrapped up in cloth baby diapers of all things. They were stored away with no batteries in them so the battery box is corrosion free. REAL nice cosmetic condition. They look to have never been used. I am not an electronics expert but I opened the manual, included, and did some reading trying to figure out how to test the Geiger counter. Installed a couple fresh D cell batteries, hooked up the headphones, turned the knob to 10X as the booklet instructed me to do and could hear a rather loud hiss with the needle moving to 0.5 or ... more300. I opened the cover on the wand and waved it across the test area but got no change in the gauge. Later was reading on the net about testing and the article I read stated that the test area was only good for 15 years at which point I went back to the book which said the same thing so I assume the test area is no good. This is as far as I got with the testing. I can tell you that my uncle didn't keep junk around, was a very meticulous, well organized person so I assume these are not junk. They appear as though they have never been used however with my very limited knowledge I cannot say if they work or not. Comes as shown with everything in the pictures of which there are lots below so if on a mobile device, wait until you get to your desk top to see them. This is a vintage Bendix Family Radiation Measurement Kit dating. I would guess, to the 1950s. It is in its original 8 3/4 x 7 1/4 x 3 inch box and comes with an instruction/maintenance manual, original packing ticket and even the original battery, which should probably be thrown away since it has a lot of corrosion on it. A relic from the cold war/bomb shelter era for your collection. The box shows wear wear from years of storage, as seen in photos. For auction is a vintage Bendix Dosimeter Ratemeter Charger 906-1 CD V 756 with 3 dosimeters and manual. Dosimeter models CD V 746 and CD V 736. These items are being sold for collector interest/ display only! I am unsure of the working condition or if they will even work accurately. I will say that the charger lights up when a battery is inserted. And the charger nipple pressed down. The dosimeters all have a visible scale inside. And I was able to adjust the indicator per instructions. Interior of charger is clean. No battery corrosion. No battery included. The manual shows age and wear. Being sold as parts/ repair only as pictured only! Let me first be clear here. Since some buyers do not understand what"for parts or possible repair only" means. This unit may or may not be repairable! This unit may or may not be fixable! It might ... moreor might not ever work correctly again! Some parts inside may or may not be good. Victoreen CD V-750 5b Dosimeter Charger w/2 Bendix CDV 742 Radiation Detectors
A leftover from the early-mid 1960's. Civil Defense radiation detectors and a charger for them. Not sure if it works. As I don't know how to test it. But it doesn't show any signs of heavy use. Some preppers out there may know what to do with this. Examine the photos of the charger and the two detectors. And the view inside one of the detectors. I don't have the instructions for it.
