Vintage Radiation Survey Meter, 1948 Tracerlab Model SU-1A "Cutie Pie"
Wow. Here we have a Radiation Survey Meter Model SU-1 made by Tracerlab in Boston. Massachusetts. Based on my research, this was the first commercial version of a Tracerlab"Cutie Pie. An advertisement for this Tracerlab"Cutie Pie" first appeared in the 1948(p.68) issue of Nucleonics. The operating manual for this meter( which I do not have) apparently describes the meter as a"Portable Radiation Instrument. The meter is in very good shape. I popped the side cover off and took pictures of the inside. It appears that everything is there and in good order. The battery compartment inside is clean as well since someone must have emptied it before storage. If you look closely. You'll see Philips head machine screws holding the side covers in place. When I got the meter, all these screws were missing, so I replaced them. I ... moresuppose if you wanted to be more correct, you would change them to flat head. I would guess that this thing works properly. But fortunately, I don't have any radiation around me to check it out. Good luck bidding. I will definitely ship this one International. But rates vary.

Up for auction is this Vintage 1950's Survey Meter/Geiger Counter by Atomic-Electronic Associates. Top is very dark green and has a headphone jack along with several knobs. Meter and counter(light) This is a piece of history. Information taken from the website of ORAU.org: Output: no speaker but jack for headphones. The neon light labeled"Count" flashes every time a pulse is registered. Detector: Six Victoreen 6306 thin-walled GM tubes with bismuth cathodes. Ranges: 0–20, 0-40, 0-200 and 0-400 counts per second Size: 5” x 7 1/2” x 6” Batteries: one 1 1/2 volt"A" battery, one 15 volt(Burgess K10) one 67.5 volt. The meter actually was measuring when this was first found and dials moved around so I believe the batteries had just enough juice to get it going. Not sure if batteries are dead now or what but I can't get ... morethe meter to register again. The bottom is missing from this meter and the GM tubes show.
