There is some surface rust on the black tin cover on top because this was in a basement work area and left with drips from a water pipe. It is only cosmetic and in no way affects performance of this unit. Everything else is very clean and heats perfectly and evenly. It was hardly used and has a very clean closeto new surface heat area. If you want to save over $200 and get a great unit and can stand the surface rust spots then get this unit.
