It simply clamps to the leadscrew support by tightening two 10-32 screws in the split base. And a single 4-40 socket head screw secures the upper part to a pre-existing hole in the headstock spindle. A self-tapping 4-40 screw is included to tap this hole, although it may already be threaded if you have used a P/N 3100 threading attachment on the lathe in the past. A collet adapter with a registration pin is included that engages in the keyway of the WW collet to keep it from turning in the adapter. 3/32" and 5/32" hex keys are also included. Sherline Lathe Motor WM 12R
About 9 years ago I bought a Sherline Model 1000 lathe and it was powered with this motor. Early on I decided to change to a PWM controller and PMDC motor so this guy became surplus. The lathe is shown in the last picture(not included with this motor) I came across the motor last week and fired it up and it ran pretty well. I put some oil in the bearings and ran it no load for 10 minutes and it was barely warm to the touch. So the duty cycle is still pretty long. The speed control also works as it should. The dial is not the right one but it was on the motor when I bought the lathe. The face mounting is correct fot the Model 1000. The brushes look good too. That's the good stuff. This guy is not pretty. And like all series wound motors it is a little noisy, it rattles a bit, and there is a small piece of plastic missing from the corner ... moreof the controller. If you are restoring an old Sherline 1000 and the motor is dead, or even uglier than this one, here you go.
