14" Pearl MasterCast 10 Lug Aluminum Die Cast Snare Drum Hoop Rim Pair Excellent
This auction is for a pair of 14" Pearl MasterCast 10 Lug Aluminum Die Cast Snare Drum Hoops. A magnet will NOT stick to these so they are made of Aluminum. They are not heavy enough to be brass and a magnet sticks to steel. So they are NOT steel. They came off of a Pearl 6.5x14 Tico Torres Signature Free Floating snare drum. To my knowledge. This is the only snare drum in existance with hoops like these& since the Tico Torres snare drum is discontinued due to him leaving Pearl, these are and will be extremely difficult to get a hold of. They will work on any 10 Lug 14" snare drum. They are in very good condition. In round, lay flat, with only minimal pitting in 2 areas of the top hoop. This can only be seen up close. Amazing original 1960s floor lamp that is has a high quality construction by Robert Sonneman. This is a rare piece and not often seen. The lamp comes from the estate of the original owner and was stored in a finished basement area. The base and shade could use some new paint and the oval aluminum body just needs a quick polish to bring it back to it's former glory. You could paint the lamp the original white or any color of your choosing to match your 1960s/70s decor. The lamp stands an impressive 58" tall and the metal dome shade is 10" in dia. These lights were originally deck spotlights on ships and we painted in various colors. We have refurbished the light by stripping of the paint and polishing the lights so that could regain their former luster. The lights are rewired with basic UL approved sockets and wires. Please note that the lights have scratches. Dents and wear and tear and are old. These lights have a unique dual color tone and have great industrial yet nautical look. Rare Stanley No. A5 aluminum plane, ca. 1925-28
Stanley's aluminum bench planes. The A4, A5, and A6, which were introduced in 1925 and discontinued about 10 years later, are hard to find today, which probably means that they didn't sell very many. Judging from the fact that the bed has a single patent date and no raised ring at the base of the knob, this A5 is a Type 13 which was made from 1925-28 and also marked the beginning of the"sweetheart" era. Why weren't many sold? Well, aluminum is soft, which means that, among other things, the soles were prone to deep scratches- as demonstrated in the last picture above. And I've read that they tended to leave dark streaks of aluminum oxide on the wood being worked(can't say that from experience because we've never tested it out) In addition. The light weight of aluminum- presumably one of the reasons it was ... moreused- isn't necessarily a good thing for a plane. And, finally, they cost more than the usual Stanley Bailey line of planes. This one isn't pristine. But it's in pretty good condition. There are the aforementioned scratches on the sole and some more deep scatches on one cheek. More than half of the nickel plating is gone from the lever cap. And there's a name- presumably from a former owner- etched on one cheek. The rosewood knob and tote are both solid with no cracks, just a small chip in the top of the tote next to the screw.
