With optional mixers not included) Intelligent Markers Internal Reference Oscillator Digital Storage 120 V. to 240 V. Operation This is Tektronix's top of the line model in their 490 Series. I have completely re-conditioned this analyzer to excellent operational and physical condition. It only has about 1500 hours of use on the elapsed time meter. Which means it has spent most of it's life on a shelf. The CRT is bright and sharp. All the functions work properly. It passes all module calibrations and built-in calibration routines. My re-conditioning includes replacing all the high voltage caps in the power supplies. I check the signal transfer from the RF input to the output of the 3rd Converter and replace any parts that have excessive loss on the RF deck. I check the operational parameters of all the circuit modules and replace any defective components. I disassemble the front panel and replace any defective push button switches and parts on the circuit board. I have re-conditioned the cabinet to like new condition.Take a close look at the pics I have included. You won't find a nicer Tek 494AP spectrum analyzer anywhere! The battery still has life in it and operates the unit for over 2 hours. The NetTek comes with a few accessories including the charger. 3 coaxial adapters, stubby antenna, CDROM with installation software and user manual PDf and a carrying case for the whole kit and caboodle. The whole package appears to have had little use since it looks new with little wear on anything including the carrying case. Good sensitivity, display bright, clear and focused. I am selling this for a friend and only basic checks have been done but it looks good and passes basic tests. I ran it for 24 hrs without problem, fan is strong and quiet, display solid. Pictures show calibration signal at 100MHz +20dbm after warmup using factory calibration port. Front and rear panels in good condition showing some wear but nothing serious. Handle works as it should, no missing parts, case in very good contion. This unit has the newer power supply version with better specs than the original model and no cap problems. Has push button plot capability, opt 1 which is internal YIG preselector filter from 1.8-21 GHz and input power limiter below 1.8 GHz& opt 8 which deletes the external mixer ability. Looks like this was Teks early bench competitor for the HP8566A. It is shown with an external 800 MHz signal from wavetek 2002 sweep generator that is included in this auction. Tektronix 491 Spectrum Analyzer 10MHz to 40GHz - vintage
Here is a vintage Tektronix 491 spectrum analyzer. It powers up and responds to signals(100MHz input shown) It does have a vertical position problem. The position knob will only move the trace about 2 divisions around the center. As shown with the input signal. The trace can go higher so I think most of the vertical deflection circuits are OK. It will need a little work to get running fully. May have other problems also. I just gave it this quick check. It's in clean condition for it's age. It does not come with a case or power cord(I used an extension cord) Or the little input module thingy that goes in the 12.4- 40 GHz slot. It's sold as-is. Tektronix 2712 9 kHz- 1.8 GHz Spectrum Analyzer. Yet another unit#3 unit has feet and a handle the handle is the 2710 style it has the Gpib port and tracking generator. All normalizations were recently run and passed the crt is clear and bright(sorry if the camera doesn't do justice) these normalizations are internal tests which were recently run and is in very good shape. I apologize for some of the pics from my camera this unit took me quite an effort and parts to repair but I felt the unit was worth it. I am sure many of the buyers of units that don't show the unit passing all the normalizations tests know just how dissapointing equipment like that is when they paid over a 1000$ for the unit! Tektronix changed something with the 2710 models over previous models it now by doing such tests provides a very accurate assessment of the ... moreunit automatically by doing a minor recalibrating of itself so you don't have to trained in how to test these units to know the condition. If you ever want to see what condition your 27xx is in let it warm up properly then go to the utility menu(by pressing Util button) and select normalizations then select all normalizations if your unit passes all normalizations then it is in pretty good shape but to find any sections that fail this type of test you select the service normalization section of the menu and it will display for each section what failed or passed.
