I have completely re-conditioned this analyzer to excellent operational and physical condition. It only has about 1500 hours of use on the elapsed time meter. Which means it has spent most of it's life on a shelf. The CRT is bright and sharp. All the functions work properly. It passes all module calibrations and built-in calibration routines. My re-conditioning includes replacing all the high voltage caps in the power supplies. I check the signal transfer from the RF input to the output of the 3rd Converter and replace any parts that have excessive loss on the RF deck. I check the operational parameters of all the circuit modules and replace any defective components. I disassemble the front panel and replace any defective push button switches and parts on the circuit board. Good sensitivity, display bright, clear and focused. I am selling this for a friend and only basic checks have been done but it looks good and passes basic tests. I ran it for 24 hrs without problem, fan is strong and quiet, display solid. Pictures show calibration signal at 100MHz +20dbm after warmup using factory calibration port. Front and rear panels in good condition showing some wear but nothing serious. Handle works as it should, no missing parts, case in very good contion. This unit has the newer power supply version with better specs than the original model and no cap problems. Has push button plot capability, opt 1 which is internal YIG preselector filter from 1.8-21 GHz and input power limiter below 1.8 GHz& opt 8 which deletes the external mixer ability. Looks like this was Teks early bench competitor for the HP8566A. It is shown with an external 800 MHz signal from wavetek 2002 sweep generator that is included in this auction. All controls functional. Good sensitivity, display bright, clear and focused. Unit is currently in calibration and checks out fine. Pictures show calibration signal at 100MHz after warmup using factory calibration signal. Front and rear panels in excellent condition, fan strong and quite. All input and output points protected/covered. Handle works as it should with no missing parts. This unit's power supply has been upgraded with new caps and now has better specs than the original model and no noise/AC leakage problems. We have used this analyzer in our shop, it is currently in perfect operational condition. Tektronix 491 Spectrum Analyzer 10MHz to 40GHz - vintage
Here is a vintage Tektronix 491 spectrum analyzer. It powers up and responds to signals(100MHz input shown) It does have a vertical position problem. The position knob will only move the trace about 2 divisions around the center. As shown with the input signal. The trace can go higher so I think most of the vertical deflection circuits are OK. It will need a little work to get running fully. May have other problems also. I just gave it this quick check. It's in clean condition for it's age. It does not come with a case or power cord(I used an extension cord) Or the little input module thingy that goes in the 12.4- 40 GHz slot. It's sold as-is. I will wrap it in cardboard before packing it so nothing gets disturbed inside. Check out my!

Tektronix 2712 9 kHz- 1.8 GHz Spectrum Analyzer. Yet another unit#3 unit has feet and a handle the handle is the 2710 style it has the Gpib port and tracking generator. All normalizations were recently run and passed the crt is clear and bright(sorry if the camera doesn't do justice) these normalizations are internal tests which were recently run and is in very good shape. I apologize for some of the pics from my camera this unit took me quite an effort and parts to repair but I felt the unit was worth it. I am sure many of the buyers of units that don't show the unit passing all the normalizations tests know just how dissapointing equipment like that is when they paid over a 1000$ for the unit! Tektronix changed something with the 2710 models over previous models it now by doing such tests provides a very accurate assessment of the ... moreunit automatically by doing a minor recalibrating of itself so you don't have to trained in how to test these units to know the condition. If you ever want to see what condition your 27xx is in let it warm up properly then go to the utility menu(by pressing Util button) and select normalizations then select all normalizations if your unit passes all normalizations then it is in pretty good shape but to find any sections that fail this type of test you select the service normalization section of the menu and it will display for each section what failed or passed. Tested again Sep. 2013 from 100MHz to 18GHz and all bands are working. This sale is as is. This unit was used for troubleshooting and calibrate other equipment at the 2GHz and 7 GHz bands. only thing Includes is the AC cord and front covers. Nothing else. This unit has GPIB and other I/O ports. Item guaranteed to be in good power up operation condition and basic functions test, but suitability for your specific application is not guaranteed. Yet another unit#8 loaded with opts.GPIB, video monitor, Tracking Generator, NVM, counter, 300hz filter, phace lock, has cover, unit has feet and a handle all normalizations were recently run and passed the crt is clear and bright(sorry if the camera doesn't do justice) these normalizations are internal tests which were recently run and is in very good shape.I have tested the controls and buttons on this unit too, have I can copy the service manual if my copy costs are paid. I am sure many of the buyers of units that don't show the unit passing all the normalizations tests know just how dissapointing equipment like that is when they paid over a 1000$ for the unit! Tektronix changed something with the 2710 models over previous models it now by doing such tests provides a very accurate ... moreassessment of the unit automatically by doing a minor recalibrating of itself so you don't have to trained in how to test these units to know the condition. If you ever want to see what condition your 2710 is in let it warm up properly then go to the utility menu(by pressing Util button) and select normalizations(selection button 3) then select all normalizations(selection button 0) if your unit passes all normalizations then it is in pretty good shape but to find any sections that fail this type of test you select the service normalization section of the menu and it will display for each section what failed or passed.
