Fishing Up for consideration is a Shimano Bantam 251X SG Mag Plus baitcasting reel made in Japan. These excellent reels were produced from 1983 to 1985. This is an excellent example of this great reel. Mechanically. The reel functions flawlessly with all operations checked. Cosmetically, the reel is in outstanding condition with nice black color to the finish and bright vivid graphics. The reel appears to have seen little to no use so there are minimal flaws. The left metal side cover has no discernable flaws. The right sid cover has a small spot on the top of the right side cover and some light oxidation. All plated components are bright and shiney. All flaws identified are minor so this reel is very suitable for fishing or adding to a vintage tackle collection. Nice working Shimano Bantam ProMag 100X SG level wind reel. These are high hquality baitcasters with magnetic backlash control. This reel works great and looks good. The plastic end cap has the common problem of the gold fading away to reveal the black underneath. All of these reels have this happen- some are worse than others. This one is not terrible. Shimano Bantam BassOne Mag Baitcasting Reel Right Handed
I purchased this reel brand new and only used it a few times. It's been sitting in my fishing closet for a few years. The reel is very smooth I guess I just never got the hang of bait casters(the whole old dog. New trick thing) I hate to have such a quality fishing reel sitting around unused so with a new season coming hopefully someone can put this to good use on some nice bass. This has a very unique magnetic back lash system for casting into the wind and such. The bearings feel like they did brand new.
