Up for sale a vintage Shimano 1000 SG bait casting reel. I purchased this reel back in the late'70s or possibly early'80s and never used it very much at all. It is in perfect working order and has been sitting in the original box unused for the last 20 years in a closet. These reels were avialable in 1981 and introduced as the new Tournnament Bass Reel. These reels are similar to the Bantam 100 but have teh cast Accurized aluminum frame that helps to reduce weight. This particular reel is in excellent condition and functions flawlessly with all operations checked. Cosmetically the reel is in excellent condition with vivid gold graphics on silver annodized side covers. The only cosmetic concerns include a small rub on the lower front edge of the right side cover. A couple of very small rubs at the top edge of the left inner frame and very minor scratches as seen in the photos. Despite the cosmetic concerns, this is a rare reel that presents ... morevery well and is suitable for fishing or adding to a vintage tackle collection. I DO NOT SHIP TO BRAZIL! A used Japanese made Shimano model BKM-1000 II free spool bait casting reel. Right hand retrieve. 5.2 to 1 retrieve ratio. Ball bearing. Magnetic cast control. Flipping switch. Spool will hold approx. 210 yards 10# test line. This reel also has a 2 speed shifter and that's where I have a problem. I don't know how it's supposed to work. Everything works fine but there seems to be a great amount of drag noticeable when the handle is cranked and it only gets worse when the"shifter" is moved. A schematic found on the web seems to verify the handle assembly is correctly put together so I don't know what is wrong. You are buying a reel that looks like it was hardly used but.
