Fishing Up for consideration is a Shimano Bantam 251X SG Mag Plus baitcasting reel made in Japan. These excellent reels were produced from 1983 to 1985. This is an excellent example of this great reel. Mechanically. The reel functions flawlessly with all operations checked. Cosmetically, the reel is in outstanding condition with nice black color to the finish and bright vivid graphics. The reel appears to have seen little to no use so there are minimal flaws. The left metal side cover has no discernable flaws. The right sid cover has a small spot on the top of the right side cover and some light oxidation. All plated components are bright and shiney. All flaws identified are minor so this reel is very suitable for fishing or adding to a vintage tackle collection. Notice to buyers: I make every attempt to provide accurate descriptions and ... morephotos of all items being sold. Condition is subjective so please review photos carefully. Nice working Shimano Bantam ProMag 100X SG level wind reel. These are high hquality baitcasters with magnetic backlash control. This reel works great and looks good. The plastic end cap has the common problem of the gold fading away to reveal the black underneath. All of these reels have this happen- some are worse than others. This one is not terrible. REAL nice vintage Shimano Bantam MAG-10 SG super gears.This reel is in great cosmetic condition for its age with 90+ percent of its original graphics intact- the numbers are missing around the magent contol dial. It looks like it was a decal that went a long time ago.All systems properly working.Free spool with disengaging levelwind. Precision balanced lighweight aluminum spool- spool is new I replaced it because the original had a home-made"V" spool concoction made of tape.Thi reel was super high tech at the time made of lightweight space age components and This was the flagship model-possibly the first magnetic controlled Shimano? It is the oldest body style Shimano bass caster with mag control. As high tech as this was there were NO ball bearings in this reel.The three bushings were replaced with new precision bearings(2 ceramic ... morehybrid and one stainless) and lubed with red rocket oil. Reel is now smooth and fast and everything works. Its not missing anything and is ready to fish. I changed the drag star to a silver one for looks and added some drag to the reel to even up with new superline technologies. This is the way they would have been built back then if practical. But ceramic bearings in a reel back then were super rare if at all. The difference in how this reel feels with the new bearings is unreal. I have boxes of old reels I am cleaning up tuning and selling to make way for another project.Reel was Made in Japan- SUPERTUNED in Virginia USA

Vintage and rare Shimano Bantam P-1500 Mag reel that has been used but remains in good overall good physical condition. It needs a tune-up to get it back in good reeling shape( lubing) as well as a good internal cleaning. All internal parts are intact and in good shape. It is binding a little from the age of the reel. I have no idea of value but put $100 as buy it now just in case. There is no reserve price so if $100 is too much the auction will take care of it. This is a longtime reel of mine that's been coddled and only used in fresh water. Also been serviced regularly. The old saying"they sho don't make'em like they used to" applies here. This thing is and has been a jewel. I don't know how old it is. But it must be from the mid-80's as a guess. You'll notice the only marks are on the reel seat where it was on a rod some years ago.
