All normalizations were recently run and passed the crt is clear and bright(sorry if the camera doesn't do justice) these normalizations are internal tests which were recently run and is in very good shape. I apologize for some of the pics from my camera this unit took me quite an effort and parts to repair but I felt the unit was worth it. I am sure many of the buyers of units that don't show the unit passing all the normalizations tests know just how dissapointing equipment like that is when they paid over a 1000$ for the unit! Yet another unit#8 loaded with opts.GPIB, video monitor, Tracking Generator, NVM, counter, 300hz filter, phace lock, has cover, unit has feet and a handle all normalizations were recently run and passed the crt is clear and bright(sorry if the camera doesn't do justice) these normalizations are internal tests which were recently run and is in very good shape.I have tested the controls and buttons on this unit too, have I can copy the service manual if my copy costs are paid. I am sure many of the buyers of units that don't show the unit passing all the normalizations tests know just how dissapointing equipment like that is when they paid over a 1000$ for the unit! Tektronix changed something with the 2710 models over previous models it now by doing such tests provides a very accurate ... moreassessment of the unit automatically by doing a minor recalibrating of itself so you don't have to trained in how to test these units to know the condition. If you ever want to see what condition your 2710 is in let it warm up properly then go to the utility menu(by pressing Util button) and select normalizations(selection button 3) then select all normalizations(selection button 0) if your unit passes all normalizations then it is in pretty good shape but to find any sections that fail this type of test you select the service normalization section of the menu and it will display for each section what failed or passed. This Unit was purchased new. By my wife, somewhere around 1990. It was a Christmas Present, so it was extra special, and has had very good care. I am in the Two Way Radio business, and I wanted something that could look at the bare spectrum and also tune cavities and duplexers. This was perfect for me. I used it for a few years and then bought some other more elaborate equipment, at which time this unit went on the shelf. I can tell you that it probably does not have more than 10 hours of service on it in the past 20 years. It is in excellent cosmetic condition, with the original user manual. The screen is bright, all the controls work, and it seems to be in excellent conditon, overall(look at the pictures) As with any piece of electronic equipment that is old. There are no warranties, other than it is. Certainly working now. And I will double ... morebox the unit for shipment. But, it is old and I would not want to misrepresent its status. HP 8591a 1.8GHz Spectrum Analyzer, Partially Working
Good spectrum analyzer. The 30khz filter looks to be out of alignment. The frequency calibration routine stops there and fails. I think the spec is 2.2dB, as you can see all the filters are pretty close, but far enough to fail. Frequency response and phase noise measurements look good. The 30khz filter looks somewhat crooked(1MHz and 2MHz filters are always crooked) Usable as-is, or you can align it and have a perfect analyzer. Guaranteed to be in the condition listed. And priced accordingly. I can probably answer some questions about aligning it, although I can't take a return if you open it. Please email me with any questions. Thanks!

The 10 MHz reference signal was set with a Trak Systems 8821 GPS Clock. Frequency and level calibration was checked against a calibrated R&S SMT-02 and found to be well within specification. There is no formal calibration sticker This analyzer was intermittently used in the field rather than left"cooking" on a test bench. It is therefore clean inside and has low hours but has some external nicks and dings. Not bad though. See the pictures This analyzer has very deep menu levels. I've been pretty far into it and everything I have tried to use works as intended but I don't know for sure that every little function is perfect as I am used to regularly using another make ... moreand model. It is not grossly out of calibration and could be used as is. At 900MHz at 0.0dBm on a calibrated R&S SMT-02 the analyzer marker reads about 2 KHz low and 1.2 dB lower than expected. This analyzer was carried by a radio technician and has more dings and bumps than average. Note the ding in the plastic below the knob area. This unit was originally purchased from a company that had started an operation and then shut it down almost immediately. They had put almost no hours on it and I've put no more than 50 hours on it. It's been sitting unused in my closet for quite a few years. You can see the extremely bright and sharp display(some images not sharp due to my inexpensive camera) The original owner had rack mounted it. I received it with no handle. Front cover or bumpers. I purchased front and rear bumpers from Agilent and obtained the front cover. The analyzer is missing the clips that the cover latches onto but these should be available from Agilent. Included is the calibration cable/adapter and power cord(not original power cord) The only installed option is 041 which is the standard serial/ HPIB interface.
