Vintage Mid 1900's Big Game Deep Sea Fishing Rod& Reel Combo Oak Rod#2 Vintage Fishing Rod and Reel Combo Up for sale we have this awesome vintage rod and reel combo This is a large heavy-duty rod and reel used for big game fishing and/or deep sea fishing I don't know much about it or who the maker is. I'm guessing there must have been a paper label on it at one time that is gone now This is a 2 piece set. The rod detaches from the reel and by the square fitting on the end of the rod(pic 17) this can be adjusted for either right or left handed sportsman The rod is made of solid oak and has 3 heavy-duty eyelets with the eyelet on the end that swivels. The rod itself is approximately 50" long and has a slight bend to it The reel is large and heavy. It's 6-3/4" in diameter and weighs about 6 lbs and that includes ... morethe original copper fishing line. The length including the handle is about 16.5" The total length of the fishing pole as one unit is about 65.75" long In pic 15 that would be a locking mechanism to lock the reel in place. If the round spacer at the top is turned to the left it lowers the upside down T-shaped mechanism down on the reel and keeps it from spinning. When it's turned to the right it raises it and allows it to spin It's in good used condition with normal wear from being used over the years. There are minor scratches on it from use. It appears to be in good working condition. It could use a good cleaning I'm not sure what kind of metal this is made of. But it appears to be made of a corrosion-free material like aluminum maybe or something similar I'm not sure of the exact age. But would guess maybe around the 1950's give or take I have another rod and reel combo almost identical to this one also listed. There is a loop on the rod above the handle to hook your lure to. All the tread is intact. The labels are scratched. There is some oxidation on the eyes. The reel works as it should.
