If you've been looking for a set like this. You found the right one. This is the one with the gorgeous gold reel that was Made in Seiko, Japan, as you can see in the photos, it is in fantastic condition. I put a dollar bill next to the set, so you can see how small and compact this set is and you can use it because there is even a tackle box inside that holds your hooks and lead weights. There is a new 6-lb line that I just installed and I put a small vintage case that holds several tiny hooks and sinkers, so you are good to go. Just go to Walmart and get some Berkley Powerbait for trout and you get ready for a fun experience. But this set is so pretty, you might just keep it for display. The case is only 14 inches overall. The rod is composed of five pieces and very easy to install and disassemble. The rod themselves I think are graphite. So very strong and the pistol grip is very comfortable and nice to hold. When fully assembled, it becomes a near full-size rod. Simply amazing! You don't find these vintage sets that easy anymore and the ones often listed are not the Japan-made quality and are newer versions. Those were made in other Asian countries. There is no damage or cracks at the fits or anywhere else on the rod. There is some light scuffing around the reel's barrel. But no damage that would effect it's use. VERY NICE- Barely Used- Vintage Daiwa Minicast Fishing Rod. Real and Hard Plastic Protective Case. This item is in VG+ condition. A recent find. Tucked away for so many years that my Dad forgot he had it. he's a golfer, not a fisher. It may have been purchased by him for a rafting trip he took down the Colorado River, which was when Mount St. Helen erupted in May of 1980. It was the one and only time it would have been used. The outside of the hard shell case has a few scratches. Dings, nothing major. The inside of the case is in excellent condition, and includes a small area under where the handle and reel seat sits- marked specifically for Terminal Tackle. The 4 piece rod is a MC 59S Minicast Silver, and is in excellent condition. The handle and reel seat are also excellent. The reel is a silver color Daiwa MC-2 in VG+ condition. There ... moreis a small scuff on the top and a couple pinpoint size marks on the closed face. I have pics detailing these. Other than that, it looks great. I did not open it up, but am assuming that it will need some new grease, as it has been in storage for so long. I gave it a basic test and it feels good and works good.
