I would imagine if you had a reversing box for a 3/4” leadscrew it would work on that version of Atlas lathe as well. It seems to be all there and working, but I’ve never installed or seen it in operation. There are at least 13 factory Atlas change gear sprockets inside. Plus a bunch of non Atlas gears with the same pitch. So parts alone will be worth at least $200. So that’s where I’m starting the bidding. I just hate to knock it in the head if someone has a need. Offered is an Atlas/Craftsman Quick Change gearbox for a 12 inch lathe with the rare Clutch Drive output shaft. Three of the gears are damaged. And a few screws, and the clip that holds the output shaft will have to be supplied. In the diagram above. I've circled the included parts in red(the damaged gears will be included for your reference) The damaged gears and the two missing clips are marked in green. The leadscrew bearing, and bracket assemblies are not included. I got this gearbox with a parts lathe I purchased. And was going to keep it, but decided not to. Old style 9 inch South Bend Lathe Quick Change Gearbox
This quick change gearbox is off the older style of South Bend 9 inch lathes. These are sometimes referred to as the“wide bed” type. I am including the complete banjo and the lead screw gear. The gears inside the box have all their teeth but are worn. Defects: The arrows in the second picture point to holes that have been plugged and redrilled and areas that have been milled back in an attempt to fit it onto a newer model lathe. The holes could be repaired and spacers used to fill the missing area. The gears on the banjo and the bull gear on the box have some chipped and missing teeth that would need to be brazed up or replaced. The lower change handle has an old brazed repair, but it looks solid and shouldn’t be a problem. I’m selling this as is, NO RETURNS, any questions contact me before you bid. Apron. Quick change gearbox, banjo, lead screw, reverse tumbler from a 9" south bend CL344ZD. What you see is what you get. Dirty but in very good condition. The leadscrew is very good and all gears are good. The lathe fell backward and got to much damage to be worth restoring. I have the bed with saddle and cross slide and it is also in very good condition. I will include that for additional $120 if you are picking it up here in South Windsor, CT.

You have the pleasure of viewing an amazingly clean and probably one of the most well tooled Myfords you will ever see. This machine was purchased new in 1981 and has every last bit of documentation and correspondence from new. The owner was a spectacular craftsman and was extremely particular regarding his Myford. You would be hard pressed to find any attachment that is not on this one. There are no problems with this machine and runs as smooth as can be. South bend 9" 10k lathe Cone Gear set 18-28t Model A Quick change gearbox
Set of cone gears. No broken or chipped teeth. 18t. 20t, 22t, 23t, 24t, 26t, 28t, and pin. 28 tooth shows significant wear, 24 tooth has a swirl on the face but teeth are fine. I have another 28 tooth not included in this listing in much better condition but it doesn't have pin alignment hole. I would exchange for this listings 28 tooth if you would prefer.
