This unit has never been exposed to the elements. I kept it in an enclosure and put the wire around my 2/3 acre pond to"enlighten the geese"or should I say light up the geese. This unit did the trick and no geese ever ventured onto my pond after touching this wire. My one son thought the jolt would not be too bad so he touched it and it lit him up. You should have seen the look on his face and oh how he tried to convince my other son that it was not bad and to touch it to see for himself. This one comes with lots of extras that you need anyway.4 polytape wire tighteners since the wire between any insulators tends to sag somewhat over time. 15+ insulators that fit onto posts or nails including some reflectors that you put on the wire. In my case. I used rebar pounded into the ground and the insulators fastened just fine.plus one ... moreroll of polywire with stainless steel shock wire intertwined among the polyethylene rope. Just connect to the"fence" terminal and a shocking you will go. The polywire has about 150 yards left on the roll. All in all a nice setup in pristine condition.

Farm Products Group Hol-Dem model 57 electric fencer. Electric fence controller? Whatever. 12" wide. 8" tall, 6" deep. Very good physical condition. As far as I can tell. This unit is unused. I don't live on a farm or have a fence to electrify. But I do have a multimeter. When I turned on the Hol-Dem, the fence signal LED lit up, and the power signal LED remained dark. I tested the voltage across the terminals and it was a steady 448VAC. The I turned the unit off and back on again. And after that things went haywire. The fence signal LED went out, and the power signal LED started to flash. The voltage reading began to fluctuate. I also noticed a bit of a burning smell. I'm certainly not an expert on electric fencers. But my guess is that the capacitor and/or the coil are dried out from age. I can't say for sure. ... moreDue to the questionable results of my testing. I'll sell this fencer untested, as-is, as a non-working unit for parts or repair or display. Cool old USA made HOL DEM Model 57 electric fence charger. I plugged it in and after about 15 seconds the red lights on front cycle on and off. I connected a multimeter to the posts on them bottom and when the lights cycle on I was getting a voltage spike from the posts(too quick to get an exact reading. It's about 20 years old but hasn't been used most of that time. It looks a lot like the new ones. I guess they haven't had to change the design much. It was inside my house when I bought it. The electric fence outside(to keep deer out of a garden) was no longer being used. As far as I know it works but I have never used it, selling as is.
