Probably the most practical and versatile antique tractor configuration for current times. This tractor has the rare Sherman Step-Up and Step-Down Combination Transmission. Which upgrades this tractor to 12 forward gears, 3 reverse gears and 3 PTO speeds. Benefits include; standard PTO speed at 1/2 throttle, 1/3 throttle or full throttle; slower gear speeds for heavy work and faster gear speeds for road travel. With a three point hitch and the variety of speeds provided by the upgraded transmission, this tractor has functionality comparable with many modern compact tractors. This tractor has recently been restored and was done with great care. It is a solid running tractor and everything is very tight. All of the rubber has been replaced and all still have great tread. The 3 Point is in real nice condition and the top link is an aftermarket. It was also converted to the 12V system. Everything on the tractor is working very well and is ready for work. Show, or parades. Here is a little history on the Ford 8N: The Ford 2N eventually evolved into the Ford 8N. Which officially started it's production in 1947. This was also the year the handshake agreement between Henry Ford and Harry ... moreFerguson was ended regarding the three-point hitch. Ford would continue using the hitch, but would no longer give Harry any money nor would he call it the"Ferguson System" any longer. This resulted in a lawsuit which eventually awarded Harry Ferguson $10 million or so. Harry went on to produce the 8N look-alike TO-20 and TO-30 but that is another story in itself. so back to the 8N. A completely new line of implements(Dearborn) was introduced. Some of the noticeable differences between the 9N/2N was the change in lugs from six to eight in the rear wheels, scripted"Ford" logo on the fenders and sides of the hood(reportedly this scripting did not actually start until late 1950) and finally, the absence of the"Ferguson System" patch which was no longer displayed under the Ford oval(even though the tractor still used Fergusons three-point hitch) We'll answer any other questions that you may have on this 8N that you may have. Ford 8N tractor late model project or restore new rear tires
I believe this tractor to be a 1950 I have owned this about 12 years it ran when up until about 4 years ago just after I put brand new Firestones& rims on the the rear 12.4 x 28 The clutch went out. The starter drive just spins wont engage I also broke a teminal off the coil the tractor also comes with a draw bar. 1942 Ford 2N Tractor Show Tractor 9N,8N Ferguson Restored
You are viewing an auction for one of the nicest Ford 2N tractors I have ever seen. It is a 1942 Ford/ Ferguson. This tractor has under gone a complete nut and bolt restoration by a professional restoration shop. Everything that was worn or incorrect was replaced with new parts. The paint is the correct color and was professionally applied. The only things that were updated over original standards were the electrical system components such as the rear lights and switches. The actual wiring and the battery. The battery is a 8 volt battery which is useable with the 6 volt lights and components. It also has a battery power cutoff switch. All tires are brand new, brakes are new and engine and drive train have been rebuilt. The engine in this tractor is an early 1939 9N unit that has less than 10 hours on it since rebuild. Everything is brand ... morenew, this tractor needs nothing. This tractor was redone for Zehnder Farms in Frankenmuth Michigan as a Show Tractor and was only used for displaying and parades. This tractor is from an estate and we believe the engine was overhauled on it before it was painted but we do not have a record of that. The man who restored it wasn't able to put just a few minor finishing touches on it so our shop can do all this for $100 more including new steering wheel and the one rear light is missing as you can see. The paint is a good average farm paint job not automotive perfect but decent for work. Parade or the farm. This tractor's engine runs perfect with excellent oil pressure and a new clutch was put in we do know two years ago as found a record of that and shifts great with a real solid transmission. Brakes good too. And the nice thing about these classic collector Ford 8N's is that they don't depreciate like a brand new tractor which drops 33% when you drive it off the lot. As long as you maintain it well it should be worth the same price 10 years from now as when you bought it. Oil pressure operates very good for a 8N. Ford 8n Tractor...perfect project for restoration!
This tractor has been sitting for the past 3 years. Was originally used on a small hobby farm. And was kept in decent condition. It can still be started(will only run for a short time at the moment) but several pieces would need to be replaced to be in good working order. Clutch is either stuck or has gone out. Not sure if the PTO lift is in operating order. Some components have been replaced, such as cables, water pump and carburetor. A good portion of the components are original. Will need a battery(there is a battery in it at the moment for starting purposes, but does not come with tractor) Most rust spots are superficial and have not eaten through the metal. Rear tires are Armstrong Hi-Traction Lug All Purpose 11.2-28 with no cracking. Perfect project for the person who loves to restore tractors! 1961 Ford Workmaster 601 Tractor. 1 Owner tractor previous to me getting it. This tractor was being used everyday until 5 years ago when it was parked to be replaced with more modern equipment. Tractor appears to be complete. Engine turns free. The tractor rolls and steers. Three of the tires are flat. I dont have a compressor near the tractor so i havent tried filling them. The NAA was the actual model designation for these 1953& 54 tractors. The"N" was Ford's designation for the tractor line as in the 8N, etc. Various sources give different explanations for the"A" designations in NAA. I just finished plowing snow with it, I have used it for pulling logs out of the woods as well, and it was my main finish mower tractor all summers. everything works as it should. May need rear brakes, they seem to be weakening, arent they all. starts whenever you want it, dependable tractor, located upstate ny plymouth ny 13832-between binghamton and utica. Easy to get to.

Ford Funk 8N Conversion 6 cylinder w/ Sherman extremely rare antique tractor!!!
I bought this rare tractor with full intention to restore it and enter it into tractor shows and pulling contests but realize that I have too many things going on at the moment. I bought this tractor from an older gentleman that owned a sawmill and used it for hauling logs out of the woods. It has a 226? Ford Industrial Flathead 6 cylinder engine that was part of the Ford Funk Conversion Program along with parts from an 2n. 8n, and 9n to make a“Super Tractor” These type tractors were converted between 1948-51and were a dealer installed or Funk product. It also has what I believe is the Sherman transmission which gives this tractor a three more forward gears and another reverse gear. This is NOT a machine that was put together by a hobbyist. These unique tractors bring $6000 to $7000 restored. There are a couple of companies selling conversions ... morekits for just under $1000 but this is original with original parts. The good: I installed a brand new $300 offset drive starter(I have the receipt) because it didn’t have a starter when I bought it. Found out that the starters have to be“matched and machined” because when they were converted using a ford truck flywheel or the tractor flywheel. Turns over great and normally without abnormal noise. Tires have good tread but are cracked. Goodyear 14-26 calcium-filled on the back and Goodyear 6.00-16 on the front. Rims look to be in good shape and tires hold air. Sheet metal hood. Grille, and sides are what I consider great shape and very workable. I do not see any holes or large dents, just the usual dings and light surface rust. Light sanding and paint should make it look a whole lot better. Has the shifter arm for what he told me was a High-Low transmission that gives the machine an extra 3 forward and one reverse. These Sherman type transmissions sell easily for $300 to collectors everywhere. The ultra-rare 6 cylinder breather over the carburetor is still intact. The bad: Not getting spark to the plugs.
