Nice Pair Vintage Daiwa Spincast Reels/M80 & RS80RL/Great Working/Just Add Line
Two nice. Clean, smooth working daiwa spincasting reels. One Model M80 and one Model RS80RL great for pan fishing, trout fishing or light tackle bassing. river smallmouth are a handful on the smooth little bassbusters. Some scrapes and scratches but work 100% I used the RS80RL quite a bit and love every fish catching cast of it. I have over 100 spincasting reels so I'm moving some out because it's time to fish some of my others. Other than new line(the RS has some nice 8# on it) these small powerhouses are ready to go. The Ocean City Manufacturing Company was incorporated in Philadelphia. PA in 1923. The company was a major manufacturer of fishing reels for the next 40 years or so. They were known for quality factory salt water reels and inexpensive baitcasting and fly reels. Their reels are of moderate interest to collectors. They apparently purchased many reel designs from the A. F. Meisselbach Mfg. Co. when the Newark, NJ factory closed and produced them under the Hermos label. It has seen extremely limited use and has a smudge here and there but is unusually clean. On the gold foil wrapper(where the 33 is) says 1983 and Brunswick; I believe that would be the mfg date. Bottom of the foot says made in USA. I did not so much as wipe it off- so you can make it as clean as you'd like. This strikes me as a surprisingly sophisticated reel for 1983. 3 good photos to review. From the estate of a professional angler. I have a few other reels of his listed. The reel seems to be real nice condition and runs smooth. There is also a star drag on it. The foot of the reel is marked Korea. There is magnetic control on this reel and an antibacklash screw also.
