I got this at a yard sale. I don't know a lot about fishing. But I do remember a long time ago when I bought a closed face spinning reel that the line had a little round thing sticking out the reel so you could find the end of the line without going into the reel. That little thing is on the end of the line. There are no scratches or wear of any type on the reel. I would have listed it as new, but I'm just not sure, so it's better to be safe than sorry. Up for auction is a recent estate find. This is a vintage Johnson Century Model 100B Closed Face Spinning Reel( today we would call it a spin casting reel) made by the Denison- Johnson Inc. Mankato. Minnesota. Included is the reel( in new unused condition) prespooled from the factory with 6 pound line and it still retains the Johnson plastic tab on the end of the line. The original parts/ warranty manual instruction sheet is include as is an original order blank for a extra spool and they are all in the original box! Made in USA and backed by"Lifetime Service" although Johnson reels are still made, they are now made outside of the country. Look at the pictures of the reel = it is immaculate and everything still works as designed. Note that I haven't done anything to this reel. It is in as found condition! There isn't even ... morea scratch on the reel foot from having been mounted on a rod! Mr. Lloyd Johnson designed and started making reels back in the 1960s and this Model 100B is likely circa 1970( from what I have been able to find out on the net) If you are a fishing reel collector it doesn't get much better than this reel = original box. My four photos will have to speak for themselves about this VERY RARE green plastic closed face spinning reel, not only as to the reel's appearance and overall physical condition, but also to identify this reel's manufacturer, where the reel was made, its name, and when it was made! I am calling this odd looking and uniquely operating closed face spinning reel VERY RARE, because I have NEVER seen another reel like this one, ANYWHERE! Many, many years ago, I acquired this odd looking green plastic spinning reel at a widow's tag sale in Maine. Her husband had apparently owned and operated a sporting goods store and bait shop. The man had died. That stands to reason, if the man's wife was a widow! His wife was selling off the man's ... morecollection of fishing tackle. Though the woman did not know anything about any of her husband's fishing tackle collection, the man had told her that, this green plastic spinning reel was worth a great deal of money, probably more than all the rest of his fishing tackle collection. The widow was a very strong willed and demanding person to try and do business with! I have never seen another reel like this green plastic spinning reel in my life! There are NO identifiers anywhere on this reel, as to its maker, name, or country of origin. When I finally got around to trying to take this reel apart, it took me some time to figure out the reel's ingenious design and construction! Discounting the knob and the aluminum threaded shaft onto which the reel's crank is mounted, there isn't a single bolt or screw holding this spinning reel together! The two main sections of this reel's body, simply snap together, for a secure"friction fit" Note, too, this closed face spinning reel is SIDE MOUNTED, with the reel's line retrieving hole facing to the SIDE of the reel. Not to the reel's front? Every closed face spinning reel I have ever owned or even seen.

Up for Auction is a Zebco Authentic 33 Closed face Spinning Reel. This metal bodied reel has ball bearing drive and a gear ratio of 3.3:1 Comes with a working roller drag. Clicker, bait alarm and anti reverse when clicker is off. With clicker is on handle goes both ways. This is a great looking reel and does have line on it but I don't know what size and how much. Unmarked Underspin Closed Face Spinning Spincast Reel You are bidding on an unmarked fishing reel that is similar in function to the Shakespeare 1600 1735 1745 1755 1756 1810 under spin reels. These closed face reels have no trigger and are usually mounted underneath on a fly rod or a spinning rod with movable rings. They operate by pinching the line with your forefinger against the rod cork. Then turning the handle backward about ¼ turn to release the line. You then cast it like a regular spinning reel. When you begin the retrieve the pickup engages and you can reel in the line…pretty cool mechanism! I have fished with these type reels quite a bit and they perform quite well. This particular reel is very well made and of similar design and function to the Shakespeare. But is unmarked and I cannot identify the brand or maker.
