Description Up for auction is this elegant sterling silver overlay crystal or glass 2 piece serving set. Heavy silver around edges and silver strawberry. Raspberry and lingonberry vine design. The plate has a starburst design in the center and is almost 10" in diameter. The pedestal dish is a little over 3" tall and 4.5" around. This was made with a method John Scharling patented in the late 1800s so that the underside of the silver, where you can't polish it, won't tarnish. This estate find is probably from the early 1900s and is in excellent condition. Marked Sterling. I have 2 other listings with the same pattern, a relish dish and a footed serving dish. Tiffin/U.S. Glass Hand Painted Parakeet Pink Satin 11.5" Cake Plate
Here we have a lovely Tiffin/ U.S. Glass Pink Satin double handled cake plate in excellent condition. This hand painted plate measures 11.5" from handle to handle or 10-5/8" from side to side. It is free of chips. Cracks, cloudiness, scratches or stains and the satin treatment is all over the top and bottom. The parakeet and flowers was hand painted on the underside or bottom of the plate after it was acid dipped and is about 95% intact with the only area showing minor color loss on the lower beak and the thin branch starting at the back of the bird going to the cluster of flowers behind it. I've seen this same parakeet design on other pieces so I believe it is a factory applied decoration but I don't know if it's part of the Jungle pattern which features a parrot or if it was meant to be a totally separate pattern. ... moreLike Tiffin's Jungle pattern, this parakeet line is hard to find and especially with good paint! VINTAGE PORCELAIN WARMING PLATE RAISED ENAMEL- LEWIS & CONGER - NY - CIRCA 1900
This is a beautiful is a beautiful vintage warming plate circa 1900. The plate measures 10-1/2 inches in diameter plus the folding handles and the fill tube and 1-2/3 inches tall. I believe that this is a Lenox pattern but have not been able to identify it yet. It could also be Staffordshire. England or Limoges, France. The plate has a white ground and a pale yellow band. The decoration is raised enamel in a blue, rose, green, yellow and orange floral motif with flowing scrolls around the border. The edge of the plate is a narrow band of green with panels of orange flowers. The bottom of the plate is metal, and stamped with, Lewis& Conger- New York" It has metal handles that fold on each side to pick up the plate and a fill tube with the original lid to put in hot water to keep food warm. Richly hand decorated in an earthy four color Pratt motif of olive green, ochre, brown and black, with a blue pearlware glaze. The tiny plate measures 3-1/4” in diameter with a flat bottom construction. It has a scalloped rim and is painted with the impeccable precision showing 7 stylized acorns alternating with nuts and a seaweed or fibre design. The plate was originally made as a child’s toy. Probably part of a large miniature dinner service dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. 18th Century Tin Glazed Blue And White Delft Plate
Here is a beautiful. Old blue and white delft plate which I believe dates to the late 1700's. It has no cracks that I can find, although it does have minute glaze chipping on the outer edges as is common with tin glazed wares of this type and age. There is an area about 2" long on the back where the glazed"crawled" during the firing leaving the fired clay bare. It appears that someone tried to cover this firing mishap long ago by using some kind of glued paper over the clay; the darker brown material shown in the photo scratches off like old adhesive. Personally, I would leave it alone; it does not detract from the beauty of the plate and poses no danger to the structure. There is also a spot on the underside, not visible from the top, where something stuck to the plate while it was being fired in the kiln. Antique Open Handled Plate Shabby Cabbage Roses & Enamel
Beautiful plate is decorated with a ring of big pink cabbage roses enhanced with raised enamel adding a wonderful depth and dimension to the piece. The background is blended deep teal with a delicate gold floral stencil. The scalloped rim is gilded and the porcelain is very fine and light. It measures 10" wide and is in very good condition with no chips or cracks and just some light wear to the gold as well as two very small scratches on the green. I would look lovely displayed in a shabby cottage decor. Unmarked but undoubtedly late 19th c. German in origin.
