Singer 29K171 leather sewing machine, treadle, later version of 29-4 29K, 29-K71
For sale: Singer 29K171 boot. Leather, canvas etc sewing machine. Unit will sew thru approximately 3/8" leather depending on material. Adjustable stitch length up to 1/4. Sewing head revolves 360 degrees to enable the operator to sew in any direction without stopping. This is the newer version of the old Singer 29-4 and 29K series. The main difference is the design of the presser foot tension assembly and a removable bobbin carrier/drive assembly. It also has a lock stud to maintain a constant sewing direction if the 360 degree feature isn't desired. The interior front leg had a small hairline crack which was repaired with JB weld. It holds perfectly and is as strong as the cast iron. It can be easily touch-up painted. But I felt it only honest to state this repair in the listing. This unit has very nice original paint. Before describing this machine. It needs to be made clear this machine will be picked up here at my home. There is no way to ship it the machine is to big and heavy shipping is just not feasible. You will have to come here to pick it up or have someone pick it up for you. This looks like a great antique German made Durkopp shoe patcher sewing machine similiar to the Singer 29. The machine looks to be in good plus antique condition it looks all complete. This is a tradal machine there is no electric motor just a foot operated tradal. It turns nice and smooth and comes with a copy of an original operating manual along with extra bobbins and other small parts along with a leather belt that will need to be fitted to the pulleys. It might be just a little bigger then a Singer 29 but works the same way. I have never sewed with it and because of ... moreits age I cannot guarantee it will sew it could need some work done on it. ADLER 30-1 TREADLE SEWING MACHINE used once for a small leather project FIVE years ago. Been sitting since. time to move on, taking up to much room! will need a good cleaning. Everything was oiled and now is a layer of dust. base is excellent. No welds or cracks machine worked well for light leather its better suited for sewing patches on leather jackets. sewing 4oz leather to 4oz leather. Piece of cake 6oz to 8oz gets a little tricky.well, way to tricky. tons of needles included. From small to large misc. parts.
