Offered is a Merrow Style 60 WD heavy duty industrial serger sewing machine. I picked this up at an auction where a business was liquidating all of there industrial sewing machines. This was still in use at the time. There is also a name plate with Lawrence M. Stein Co. 815 West Van Buren St. Chicago on it. I am assuming this is the business that sold it originally. Or was a sewing company. It has three areas for thread as well as two needles still intact. The oiler stack has a pat date of 3-30-15 on it. It also has a number painted on it on the back side which I believe was the work station number. Other than some dust and textile fibers on it, it is in great working condition. This is a heavy unit. I am calling this a non-working machine that has good visual appeal. When I had it hooked up to the motor. It did not turn. Now that I have it dismantled, it does turn manually and the bobbin does its thing. I can only figure that the belt was not tight enough when I tried it with the motor. Only the sewing machine as pictured is included. Not the motor. The previous owner said she stopped using it about 2 years ago. Giving up her hobby as she approaches 90 years old. She can probably still sew circles around most folks, but managing the stairs to her basement and handling bolts of cloth likely became too much of a challenge for her. It comes with a Champion universal motor and it is a 110 volt model# 73. it also comes with a foot pedal and also the thread holder. Base not included. This use to be my boyfriends mothers machine. She was a seamstress that came to this country from Italy in 1966. She worked as a seamstress here until she retired. She is 90. She got this machine from work. Vintage Merrow industrial sewing machine Style 60JDC Serger overlock
This is a Merrow industrial serger sewing machine Model 60 JDC. It turns freely by hand. But is otherwise untested. It has been sitting for a while. When the flywheel is given a sharp twist, it turns about 3/4 to 7/8 of a rotation before coming to a stop, so the machine needs some cleaning/lubrication. There is a little surface rust on some of the chrome parts, as well as some rust on the base of the machine. Also, there are two machine screws missing from the end of the machine above the needle(see 4th photo) Also, the needle is broken. We did not see any other issues. But please examine the photos carefully, We are not knowledgable about this machine.
