Fischbein Bag Closer Chain Stitch Sewing Machine Seed Corn Dog Food Packaging
Hello. This auction is for a FISCHBEIN BAG CLOSER and counter balance. This seems to be a completely foreign object and concept to eBay for some reason. There are other bag closers for sale here. But I couldn't find any other Fischbein's, which used to be THE bag closer. They used to keep one of these on hand at the seed house for a back up when the main bag closer would break down, as I'm sure they still do all across the corn belt at seed houses everywhere. These are sweet little machines, and this one is no exception. It runs like, well, like a sewing machine! It is of course a single thread chain stitch, making the stitch like you find in a dog food bag, the kind that you can pull out by unthreading the last stitch and tugging on the end, unzipping the bag. I did find other bag closers(all made in China) here on eBay, but ... morewhat they failed to offer was the all important counter balance, which helps to support the machine while it's in use. While it is light weight(just under 12 pounds) you don't want to have to run it all day(or even half a day) without the counter balance. The one that comes with this machine works very well and has a feature that will hold the machine suspended all the way up when not in use, but still allow it's easy deployment without needing to pull down hard. This spring and cable device is designed well and works well. Also with this machine I include a package of needles, genuine Fischbein, with only a couple gone, so there are still over twenty needles in the pack, and you also get the spool of cotton string you see in the pictures. I have gone over the machine, oiled it, and sewed it off. It is working very nicely. I don't have a book for it, but it is a very straight forward machine, almost self explanitory. Keep it oiled, threaded like it is when you get it and avoid dropping it on the floor(which the counter balance also helps with) and you shouldn't have any trouble. Parts are still available for these fine functioning, made in the U.S.A. machines.

Union Special Model 80600F Sewing Machine Bag Closing Industrial Heavy Duty
Union Special Model 80600F industrial sewing machine. Originally made for closing cloth or jute bags etc. I believe the 80000 series machines have also been used for carpet serging and other applications, but do not know if this machine can be adapted to such purposes. The 80000 series is still offered by Union Special. This machine appears to have had moderate use from the overall wear and condition. I would say the mechanical condition is very good; little if any play in the'conrod' bearing. Quite clean inside except where dust has entered through open areas, probably mostly during long storage. With the needle'shaft' at full extension I can feel almost no play in it it when trying to wiggle it from side to side. There is some light rust on some exposed steel surfaces. Which would be easily removed with a fine rotary wire ... morewheel; easy for me at least! We could discuss doing that here if the buyer wishes) There appears to be one end cover missing. But parts are available from Union Special or other suppliers. The manual for this machine is available for download on the internet. Personally I would use carb cleaner and compressed air to blow out the dust that has stuck to the oily surfaces and then lubricate. With the steel surfaces cleaned. The machine is probably ready to use as is. Please remember that I am not an expert on this type of thing, but I do have enough mechanical sense and observational skill to tell as much as I have here. This will need to be packed in a wooden crate. And bolted to the bottom of the crate using the existing mounting bolt holes, with internal bracing if required. I purchased 2 of these machines for a specific job. They were both used once for a total of 10 days. Cleaned at the end of each day, then again before being oiled and stored. Except for a very minor scuff or two, both are in LIKE NEW cosmetic and operating condition. Each has the thread stand to accommodate 1# spools(setup for size 207 poly) Each has the spring steel trigger lock to use instead of holding the trigger down for long periods. Comes with 10 extra needles, extra looper and set screw, all original printed materials(manual, parts list, setup sheet specs. etc. and the 2 spools of 207 thread as shown. Both operate on 110-120V.
