1937 W. L. E. Gurley Survey Transit Serial# 371165 in the original box with adjustable tripod. Box is olive green and used to be in service with the US Navy. The transit is in excellent but used condition with minimal scratches to the coatings as befitting a 76 year old surveying instrument. Telescope optics are in great condition and are not scratched. Front and rear focus elements work smoothly. Compass Face is not scratched or chipped. And the vernier scale is in near mint condition. All leveling bubbles are intact and filled. Levelingl ocks and tangents operate smoothly. There is no rust on the steel components or patina on thebrass components. All tools are in the box with exception of the plumb bob. Keyf or the box is not available. The wooden box has broken leather side straps and the backpack straps are in good shape though the leather ... morenear the bottom of the case is starting to deteriorate. But still functional. Which was only done during the 2 years after the 2 companies seperated in 1898, which corresponds to known units and dating of the serial numbers.being manufactured in between late 1898-1901. This unit was purportedly used by an engineer building the hoover dam, the grandfather of a miss Shelly Woods. Unfortunately, there is no documentation to back this up, other than her gandfathers name used in documentation associated with building the hoover dam. This Lietz 10C transit was purchased new and used at my engineering office back in the day. It is in perfect shape having been stored in it's hard case all it's life. The plumb bob which was included as an accessory. However, is missing. Hard case in perfect shape with shoulder strap. Collapsible aluminum tripod has orange legs and shows some wear. Both have shoulder straps. This instrument can be used for land surveying. Construction layout work, leveling, carrying a Bench Mark to a desired location or just star gazing. This set of construction leveling equipment dates from the 1950s and was made by the David White Instrument Company. Included are a level transit. A leveling rod, and a tripod. Everything appears to be in good cosmetic shape, however, the tripod's plumb bob has been replaced with a spark plug by the previous owner. The original box and paperwork are included with the level transit. This set could be put use as intended or simply as industrial decor. The leveling rod measures 6'8" and 7" wide. K&E Mountain Transit & Tripod

Transit XVIb Switzerland Antique Vintage Survey Tripod + PLUMB Stand No Reserve
This is a vintage Transit XVIb Survey tripod that my grandpa used in his survey business. It says Switzerland on a tag and it has XVIb stamped into the metal. it is still in good condition considering the age and comes with a plumb bob in the little case that is attached to one of the legs. Two of the three legs are tight and won't slide out very well because the wood has bowed a little bit(see the second to last pic to see what i mean) Maybe it can be fixed or if it is just going in a collection then it doesn't matter much. it measures about 37" collapsed and 62" expanded(rough measurements) I will be having many other antique surveying instruments in the weeks to come so please check out my other items. 1900 Lietz Aluminum Solar Surveyors Transit w/aux. Scope, Bayonet Tripod Mount
NOTE: Mining and Solar transits are REAL RARE. You might not know it since I have been listing a few out of my collection lately. But it has taken me 24 years of collecting to acquire this many of these rare instruments. Take a look around, mining and solar transits rarely if ever come up for sale anyplace else but the few I am listing. Working condition and quite rare alum. Lietz solar transit with a Saegmueller Solar attachment. This is likely the cheapest solar transit you will ever see listed. This is because there is a spot of epoxy on the slow motion tangent screw(hardly noticable) it must have cracked at one time and someone did an epoxy fix that really works well. This alum. transit is from the days they were experimenting with alum. so it was an uncommen metal to use, very light but also very fragile thus the crack. Scope measures ... more10 3/4" inches long, plate is 6 1/4 inches and the compass needle is 4 1/4 inches long. Optics and motions are in good shape, overall a good working example of a Saegmueller Solar Transit. What you see in the photos is what you get, Lietz solar attachment, plumb bob, and some other little extras, just what you see in the photos nothing else. This transit also has a rare tripod mounting style, a bayonet type mount which is very unusual(there is no tripod with this) PAYPAL IS THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE FORM OF PAYMENT FOR BIDDERS OUTSIDE THE USA. Survey Transit Antique Transit Brass Original Wooden Box Case Vintage Tripod
Up for auction is a small engineering transit that is an unknown brand. The auction includes the tripod and a few accessories. The transit does appear to be in working condition. It is a heavy brass item and has signs of heavy use. The entire item is dusty/dirty and the box is missing its leather strap. It does latch but I do not have a key for the box. The item is in no way mint condition. I was told that since this has the tripod and accessories with it that it is valued at over $1000 however I am not an antique expert so I will try my best to answer any questions.
