Vintage oval target for Dietzgen Leveling Rod with scale/ vernier. Appears to be solid bronze or maybe brass weighing over 1 pound. I don't know how old this target plate is. But in a Dietzgen 1907 catalog this same target is pictured and sold for $5.50. Just the melt down value of the metal today would be worth more than that. There is no brand name on it, it has a little leveling gauge on it and a label that reads"Model 2071(Standard) Model 1171(One Hand) General Purpose Clamp- Made in theU.S.A. From the knob across it measures 7 1/2" and 6 1/2" from top to bottom on the right hand side with the label plate. The second one is from Crain Enterprises for use with Universal Series(USL) leveling rod only. At the widest point it is about 6 1/2" across and 3 7/8" deep and it is metal. Vintage Industrial David White Surveying Level Transit Tripod Leveling Rod Decor
This set of construction leveling equipment dates from the 1950s and was made by the David White Instrument Company. Included are a level transit. A leveling rod, and a tripod. Everything appears to be in good cosmetic shape, however, the tripod's plumb bob has been replaced with a spark plug by the previous owner. The original box and paperwork are included with the level transit. This set could be put use as intended or simply as industrial decor. The leveling rod measures 6'8" and 7" wide. The tripod stands at about 5 ft tall and is 4" in diameter. The level transit is 10.5" L x 4 1/4" W x 4 1/4" T and its box measures 11.5" L x 5.5" W x 5 1/4" T. There is no marking on this transit but we found a couple of others just like this one on EBAY and they stated that they were Antique Brass Keuffel& Essex surveryor transit. What is nice about this transit is it comes with the origianal wooden tripod and a wooden 8' foot grade leveling rod. Transit lenses are clear and seem to work/look just fine. The wooden box that holds the transit is very neat. Too. If you look closely in the pictures you will see that there is a blumb-bob in the front right corner of the box A very nice set.
