I'm not sure of the model number(looks like a 5085CF but I can't find any markings to confirm) Serial number 95098, probably dates to the mid 1940s. Looks to be in pretty decent condition for age, lens looks clear, all bubble levels are intact, shows typical brassing from paint rub. It could use a cleaning, I can detect a very slight musty aroma from storage but not too serious. This is a beautiful collectible and it's in amazing condition! This was taken care of. And used, for quite a long time, but it was handled well and kept clean. I'm not 100% certain, but I believe this is from the early 1900s, around the 1911 area. This is such a great collectible to have for any home, and to have it with a tripod that fits AND a plumbob, AND the wooden box makes it all the better! It comes with a wood case with dovetailed corners, a hinged cover and hook fasteners on the front. The case has a leather strap that is in good condition. It is Model#4 and Serial#47. The plumb-bob is included. The photos show everything that is included. Transit appears to be in very good condition. I don't know if it works or not.

This listing is for a very nice David White level-transit surveying scope. This is model 8300 and in great condition. This particular model is supposedly the best transit level made. I think it's from the 1960s. This is a beautiful piece for work or display. Great for the steampunk fans. It has lots of brass fittings and trim and would be lovely polished up. It comes in a heavy duty wooden case with a very sturdy carrying strap. Everything seems to be in good working order. All pieces move smoothly with no effort. Description: This sale is for the C. L. Berger Transit seen above. This transit has a great look and will make for a great display piece. Everything seems to be working OK but it has not been tested or adjusted. The scope is approx. 10" long and the optics are clear with crosshairs present. The compass points north. The serial# is 14783 as seen under the compass glass. I believe it dates from the 30's or so. The black crinkle finishes on the mostly brass instrument are original and OK. Berger ... morepurposefully left some areas like the base and eyepieces in natural brass. It has a 4" full vertical circle scaled to 30' There is a small brass pad missing under one of the leveling screws on the leveling head. It is hardly noticeable. The door on the box needs to be reset. The box looks as if somebody started to refinish it and stopped. NOTE: There is no tripod. But I do have a fixed leg wooden that will fit. It is not 3 1/2 x 8, but rather an odd sixe like 3 1/4 x 12. Please look at all the pics to see the details and condition. Please read my listing thoroughly and view all 12 of my PHOTOS: Here is a vintage David White survey level model 8114. Serial number 151365, includes the original case. I don't know anything about survey equipment but this item appears to work well. The lenses look good, the cross hairs are straight, it focuses fine, the leveling mechanism and bubble are working. The paint on the level is original-there are some light scratches but overall it looks very good in my opinion, the unit could probably use a cleaning. The case is solid with no holes or cracks, it does have scratches and paint loss. The latches and handle on the case have some surface rust but they work just fine. However the box has seen better days. It is scratched/ scuffs and the strap is broken. Regarding the strap the buckle is fine and if you are handy the strap can be easily repaired. It is very rare to find an instrument in such good condition for its age. It has either been used very little or really well looked after as the original paintwork is also good with minor cosmetic damage. The circles and verniers are also good. This theodolite comes complete with it wooden box for transportation and is nearly complete with its adjusting tools. Brass Plumb bob and also the key. I tried, but I could not find another William Young Transit exactly like this on line and I suspect that it is circa-1850s. Inside the cover is a label from Buff& Berger who sold this transit in Boston. The plumb bob screws to under side of the survey. the Manuel has some water damage on some pages. The wooden case is in pretty good condition, a light sanding and some finish would make this case look great. This item is used and is being sold as-is.
