Antique Industrial Machine Age Transit Level Survey Wood Tripod Stand
This is an antique industrial machine age transit level survey wood tripod stand. I'm not sure as to its age. But it looks fairly early. Folded up. The entire piece measures 47 inches long. Each of the tapered legs measures 45 1/2 inches long. The tapered legs vary from 3/4 of an inch to 1 1/8 inches. The brass piece on top is 3 inches in diameter. The brass piece sticking up is 1 1/4 inches high. The legs can be adjusted in or out(but not shortened or lengthened) and the screws on them hold well. The bottom pointed metal attachments are rusty. But strong and intact. The brass hardware on top has tarnished. One of the legs has about 75% of its finish intact. The other two about 25% This leaves the wood in varying shades of brown, due to wear. Personally, I think he gives it a great old look. But it could use a good polishing. There is ... morean age crack at the top of one of the legs which goes around from the front to the back(please see photo) But it doesn't affect the sturdiness of the piece at all. Presented for your consideration is this antique industrial machine age transit level survey wood tripod stand. This is an early tripod constructed of brass and a very fine light oak hardwood. This piece was acquired along with a brass Antique C.L. BERGER& SONS Transit that I also have listed so I believe that may be the manufacturer however I can not locate any manufacturers markings. The C.L. Berger transit was mounted to this tripod and fit great so I am pretty sure it is a C.L. Berger however I can not be certain. Folded up. The entire piece measures approximately 58 inches long. Each of the tapered legs measure approximately 57 inches long. The tapered legs vary from approximately 1 1/8" to 2 1/2" wide. The uppermost brass mount measures approximately 5 inches in diameter and features the majority of its original finish ... morewith minor areas of brass showing through. The legs can be adjusted in or out(but not shortened or lengthened) The bottom pointed metal attachments are strong and intact along with additional foot pegs to allow the user an easier way to steady each leg. The only defect to note is that one of the legs exhibits a split in the uppermost part of the wood. A nice early transit stand this piece would complement any transit rather nicely.

listed is a very nice old wood survey tripod for an old transit. stamped berger on both sides in the wood. it is also stamped ce dept purdue. c-70. the inner dimentions on the top screw is 3 inches and outside to outside is 3 1/4 inches. the total length is 58 inches. it also has very nice steel feet in good cond. the wood on this old tripod is in ex cond for its age. this is a very early one and a purdue university piece. makes this a very desirable piece of enjinering and survey history. Beautiful Vintage Brunson Transit w/Orig. Box, Wood Survey Sticks, Tripod, Poles
This auction is for one vintage Brunson Transit in original wood box with plumb bob and tools. One Brunson wood tripod, one 3-part Dietzgen 6526 survey stick, and two 2-part metal survey poles. These items have been in storage for 40 years. Everything seems to work well. All bubbles are fine. The only thing I find wrong with it is that the compass doesn't move and the printing on it looks crystallized. It's a very beautiful machine. And I've used it once surveying our property with no problem. There are identifying marks made with an etching pen on the box and transit by the original owner(my father) I don't know what model it is. As the only imprinting on the transit are as follows: Patents: and and what might be a serial number: 492536 Local pickup only. Included is a heavy-duty poly-webbing shoulder strap. Collapsed, the transit is about 3' tall and fully extended, is is about 6' tall. The included 16' Crain CR Series leveling rod has four sections graduated in ft/10ths/100ths. The top of the first section is cracked on two sides and will eventually break off unless it is stabilized some ... moreway. It was stabilized by a piece of duct tape. However, that has been removed. Bowtex Survey tripod with prism
This is a used Bowtex brand survey tripod. It has extendable legs and the top base is a quick attach type. It comes with the quick attach prism as seen in the pics. I do not know what brand the prism is. It all appears to be in good working condition. I do have the handle that screws on top of the prism, I found it after taking the pics. I do not know anything about surveying but I will be happy to answer any questions you have about this equipment if I can.
