German military tripod heavy duty WW2/WWII theodolite/survey/rangefinder equip
Please read carefully. And examine pics to determine the condition of this item. It is in good overall condition, but there are a few specific, minor items listed below to make it complete. Feel free to ask any questions. This is a heavy duty metal tripod. I am not exactly sure of the original use, so I have included a close up of the mounting head with the hole pattern to assist with identification. It looks to be for either a theodolite/survey transit, or rangefinding equipment or possible anti-aircraft machine gun, but I am more inclined to think it is for optical equipment more than weaponry. It is very strong and designed to support some fairly heavy equipment. The large mounting head would be easy to custom make an adapter for almost any application. It is a WW2 piece that came from a German Military collection and is does show its ... moreage with oxidizing. A wire brush, some paint and a few squirts of WD40 and this would clean up pretty nicely. All the joints work and the legs extend to nearly 48" total height, but it will need to replace the 3 nuts and bolts on the legs to be able to lock the legs open. A few nuts and bolts, to make fully functional, and some suface work to make it beautiful and you have a very nice, collectable piece for display, re-enactment or even put it to work for your heavy duty tripod needs! This all came from a man who purchased the three items to survey his property for a mother in law unit. He then packed it away where it sat until I came along. It is good shape as seen in photos. Optics are clear! The tripod has some random all over nicks as shown in picture 12 which shows an accurate representation of the type you will find. The grading rod has some missing paint and on of the alignment pins is missing in the back of the lower joint. None of this effects the overall performance or accuracy of this item.

1937 W. L. E. Gurley Survey Transit Serial# 371165 in the original box with adjustable tripod. Box is olive green and used to be in service with the US Navy. The transit is in excellent but used condition with minimal scratches to the coatings as befitting a 76 year old surveying instrument. Telescope optics are in great condition and are not scratched. Front and rear focus elements work smoothly. Compass Face is not scratched or chipped. And the vernier scale is in near mint condition. All leveling bubbles are intact and filled. Levelingl ocks and tangents operate smoothly. There is no rust on the steel components or patina on thebrass components. All tools are in the box with exception of the plumb bob. Transit XVIb Switzerland Antique Vintage Survey Tripod + PLUMB Stand No Reserve
This is a vintage Transit XVIb Survey tripod that my grandpa used in his survey business. It says Switzerland on a tag and it has XVIb stamped into the metal. it is still in good condition considering the age and comes with a plumb bob in the little case that is attached to one of the legs. Two of the three legs are tight and won't slide out very well because the wood has bowed a little bit(see the second to last pic to see what i mean) Maybe it can be fixed or if it is just going in a collection then it doesn't matter much. it measures about 37" collapsed and 62" expanded(rough measurements) I will be having many other antique surveying instruments in the weeks to come so please check out my other items. Up for auction is a small engineering transit that is an unknown brand. The auction includes the tripod and a few accessories. The transit does appear to be in working condition. Very Nice Antique W.L.E. GURLEY Level Surveying Transit w/ Original Wooden Box& Tripod! Up for auction is this very nice antique W.L.E. Gurley level transit with its original wooden box and tripod dating from 1925. It is in great shape for its age and use as shown in the pictures. The lens looks great without any scratches or chips but it is dusty from storage. It is marked as shown with the serial number as 251222. It comes with the original wooden box and leather strap but the leather strap has been broken. This transit and box come as shown and the box measures 9" x 9" x 14-1/2" high. The tripod telescopes out and measures about 65" high fully extended. One of the metal clips at the end was broken but I still have it and it will be shipped out with this as well. Antique Brass Survey Equipment Bostrom-Brady Mfg. Atlanta, GA w/Orig. Tripod
I found this old“Contractor’s Level” along with its original tripod and surveyor’s measuring stick. I am not exactly sure of the manufacturing date; however. I do know that the gentleman that once owned this equipment was a surveyor himself from about 1930 to 1965. I would estimate that this equipment dates somewhere in the mid 20 th Century time period. The level device itself is made of Brass& another type metal; it has the manufacturer’s name stamped into the metal ring around it. MFD BOSTROM-BRADY MFG ATLANTA GA” is what the name stamp reads. The level itself is in dusty/dirty condition with an aged patina; however. The sight does work and the focus adjuster does freely work. I can focus the eye-piece in sharply and I can clearly see through the lenses. All adjustment and calculation wheels turn freely and are functioning without ... moreresistance or stick-points. The wooden box that contains the level device has significant damage to the bottom and to the top. There are two small latches that fasten the box shut; they do work and all hinges on the box are intact and functioning. The original leather handles and the original leather carrying shoulder strap have been worn off. The original tripod has weathered and shows wear from many years of use. It remains sturdy and all hinged points operate freely; the screw-mount for the level device is intact and securely fastened to the tripod. The level device will attach securely to the tripod. The surveyor’s measuring stick does show extensive wear form many years of use. The stick does have a fastener that securely clamps the extended portion in place with no difficulty. The overall length of the measuring stick is 10-foot. While it looks in good condition for its age; I cannot be sure if there are any other missing parts. Well used Survey Transit, Model 200B, complete with original Berger metal tripod, original plumb bob, and original instrument case. The case handle has been replaced with a makeshift handle that seems to be an excellent replacement considering that the original handle is lost. This unit works very well. The lenses are in excellent condition and the view and focus are without fault. To my eye. There is some dirt and rust on the instrument case and tripod. Up for bid is an excellent early oak survey transit/theodolite stand. It measures approximately 57 inches tall. Is made entirely of solid oak, and is in very good condition showing only minor signs of use such as light scratching and wear.
