Keuffel& Esser Stadia Hand Level. K&E first offered this piece in 1909 as the model# 5375 which is the model you see listed here and has a pat. date of 1910. It comes with the ball and socket. A model# 5375L adjustment leveler, and storage case. From 1909 to 1913 this was the only model K&E offered. By 1915 they added the model# 5376 with spiral focus arrangement as pictured in the 1915 catalog. This level comes with a display base and attached vernier which appears to be added and is a separate piece between the transit and leveling adjustment. Here's a nice find. This was made by the Swiss company Etalon. It is a square level 0.5mm/meter. Purchased from a retired GE engineer who collected tools of the trade for many years. The box is original to the piece. It shows some wear from use and storage. The square itself is in working condition. Can't say enough about the workmanship in this piece. CRAFTSMAN Vintage Hand Held EYE SIGHT Pocket Level
This is a Craftsman hand held pocket level. It measures 6.25" long and fits in a 6 7/8" vinyl case. The case snaps properly. There is a belt loop on the back side, and it is fully stitched. This piece of equipment appears to be all present. There are lenses on each end. and a level bubble on the side. Since I know nothing about levels please examine photos carefully! This level would serve well in the field or would make a nice addition to a display case for surveying equipment. It is coated metal(appears to be like gun metal bluing) Stratex Inst. Co. L.A.27 U.S.A. is stamped on top of the cast metal vial holder. The level bubble vial is in good condition and the level is not apparently adjustable although there is an unexplained set screw in the bottom of the barrel. The level seems to be relatively accurate at a range of about 25 feet. The tool shows signs of little use and case wear. The original leather case is in very good condition supple with minor drying. The stitching has no breakage. The rivets are tight and in good condition. The snap works. Vintage KUKER& RANKEN INC. telescoping hand held sight level. PATENT No. 1741422. Made in Seattle, bubble level moves freely. Measures 5 3/8" long and extends to 7 1/4. Brass ends black metal tube, Says B.K. Elliot Co. on tube. Great patina. Has a dark brown leather belt loop holder. By far the nicest oldest sight level we've had. Nice vintage article.
