These Microscope Confocal Filters came from an auction at the University of Utah. I’m not familiar with these items nor do I know what type of microscope equipment they are for. The paper work in the box says Bio-Rad filters so I called Bio-Rad and was told they sold that part of their company to Zeiss Corporation back in 2002. I was unable to find anything on either of their web sites. The information as to what each filter is was found by doing a search online and was able to find some articles which has used these in different research projects. Superbly original antique Carl Zeiss Jena model VI microscope. Serial number 13388, dating from 1888. This small microscope comes in its originally numbered CZ flat mahogany fitted box. The tube and stage are inclinable from vertical to horizontal and the tube takes standard 23 mm diameter eyepieces. Coarse focussing is by moving the outer tube up and down and fine focussing is by the knob at the top of the pillar which moves the tube by 1/4 mm per turn. Via a left-hand thread! this type of fine adjustment was used by Zeiss between about 1885 and 1900) The original optics include two eyepieces: No. 2(approx. X6) and No. 4(approx. X10) both engraved Carl Zeiss Jena; the nickel plating is entire but dull. The objectives. Contemporary and in their original lacquered brass boxes are: Zeiss achromat A. 18 mm focal length, numerical aperture 0.20(approx. ... moreX10) serial 6567, 1891 price 24 Marks; Zeiss achromat D. 4.3 mm focal length, numerical aperture 0.65(approx. X40) serial 4768, 1891 price 42 Marks; Zeiss achromat F. 1.85 mm focal length, numerical aperture 0.85-0.90(approx. X100) serial 2667, 1891 price 84 Marks. The Type F is a comparatively rare high power dry objective- and it was correspondingly expensive! The A and D were the"standard" working objectives.h These all screw into a non-Zeiss triple nosepiece- possibly of English manufacture but late 19th/early 20th C in style(see pictures) All the optics. Eyepieces and objectives, are clean and without fungi or scratches. The simple flat stage has two original nickel-plated spring-steel stage clips. Below the stage is a fitting for push-in diaphragms. Of which only one remains. The concave-and-plane two-sided mirror can be rotated. Zeiss Standard Microscope Riser Plate - 12v Illuminator
This riser plate is used to elevate the Standard microscope stands in order to accommodate the use of an external transmitted light lamphouse. This is typically the 12v 100w illuminator; please see my other auction for the corresponding connecting tube. This is part number 467286. Please note that the screw holes are 67mm apart. So check the spacing on the base of your microscope to ensure a proper fit; this distance varies from different Standard bases. The base is in excellent condition. Please contact me with any questions. Check out my other auctions- I do combine shipping when possible.
