Dings, and scratches from many years of use, but it is very clean looking and in very presentable condition. I did notice one screw that holds the case on is missing from the left side. The door handle is also missing and a very short bolt has been used in place. The interior is clean, no damage from what I can see from instruments, etc. The stainless steel tray is also included and in very good condition. The instruction plate, which is usually missing from these, is intact, a little worn and bent, but perfectly readable. This autoclave has been tested in that. It has been plugged in and found it does heat to an optimal temperature for a sterilization ... morecycle and does hold pressure for the required amount of time for the cycle to be successful at that temperature. However the element was very slow to heat, taking over 45 minutes to reach the goal temperature. This autoclave had a certificate from the previous owner dated February 2012 showing that it was in use at that time and was being tested monthly. I do not have records of these previous tests. This autoclave has not been tested by me with a spore test. I have done my best to accurately describe this item. I am not an expert in autoclave repair and do not claim to be. This machine has not been serviced prior to sale. Please understand that you are bidding on a used item that has been in working order for many years. It has a black bakelite on/off switch, chrome plating over brass and operates with a black bakelite handled lever that opens the top and automatically raises a tray which holds the instruments being sterilized. Offered here is a great old Pelton vintage sterilizer. The unit is in excellent condition for its age and works like a champ. It has three heat settings and an auto high limit cut-off switch. The sterilizer works by using super heated water. It can be used with a sterilizing solution. not included) The whole unit is chrome plated and made out of brass. The tray is removable and has two holding positions to allow the instruments to drain. Another small tray is also included. The accoutrements are really classy looking like the drain cock with porcelain handle and the master switch also with a porcelain knob. The lever to open the lid is made of solid brass and works smoothly. This unit was just cleaned and serviced. I fired it up and it really heats up the water.
