Lets start with the well probe: This is a sealed PMT/crystal enclosed in a hermetically sealed stainless steel enclosure. With a steel and thin lead shield collimator which serves to even out the response curve of the crystal detector. The thinnest part of the crystal extends all the way up to the top of the probe walls, and rather than being one thick piece of sodium iodide, there is a dip in it that is shaped like a well; it surrounds a specimen to pick up the gamma radiation from all directions. There is a also a thicker portion of the detector crystal below the well, surrounded by less lead, which makes it great for use as a regular gamma scintillation probe. The exact length of the crystal can be determined by using a pin tip gamma source. it actually extends to nearly an inch below the top of the brand sticker seen in the pictures. ... moreIt will fit in many probe holders on Geiger counters. The kit can be used immediately without the preamp by a novice, and is priced based on that. Everything you see in the pics is in the set; the AWESOME hermetically sealed crystal/tube within the probe, the pin adapter for the probe, wired for immediate use, the standoffs, the case, the board, the bottles, the extras, its all yours. This is an experimenters dream kit. Spectrolab Emissions Mass Spectrometer for Analysis of Metals- XRF
I am closing a recycling business in Los Angeles and am selling a 1989 Spectro LVO-M5 Copper base Mass Spectrometer made by Spectrolab(Arc/Spark type spectrography) I was told there were many new elements in addition to copper that the company had recently spent in excess of $75.000 upgrading to. However, I do not have that list. Spectrolab did the software upgrade and might have that information– see below. I do know that the base configuration was for use making copper powder. It was completely functional in mid 2012 when it was powered down so, it stands to reason it remains fully functional. It has not been powered up to verify since moving in early 2013. This unit was purchased from a plant closure and relocated to California and has never been installed. It was used to test metal powders and comes complete with all equipment including ... morecomputer, cables, gas valves, spark analyzer and test samples(see pictures) The software on the PC based machine runs on windows 3.1 and has been updated within the past few years. The unit is only missing the compressed argon gas bottle. The information below is from the manufacturer Spectrolab. This unit along with with the copper calibration samples, computer and argon gas pump weighs 1300 lbs for shipping purposes, ships on a pallet and has the following dimensions: 80" tall x 60" deep x 34" wide) The serial# is 2544/89& model# LVO-M5.
