Original CIVIL WAR Discharge DOCUMENT for Private HENRY REICHERT Circa 1864 Offered for your consideration is an original Civil War Discharge Paper for Private Henry Reichert. He signed on in 1861 to serve three years. He was a member of Captain Francis Fisher's Company B. 98th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Infantry Volunteers. Discharge also gives his place of birth, and his physical description. A note on the reverse indicates he Reenlisted at the Frankford Arsenal(which is in Philadelphia) in the Ord. Corps. in Feb 1865. Overall condition good for paper of this vintage. A must for any collector of Civil War ephemera. See my other Militaria Memorabilia now on eBay. On the front is the stage for the microtome blade. The blade holder unit rotates to the desired angle for best sectioning. It has forward and backward movements to ensure contact of specimen with the knife. Weight(approx) 19 Kg Overall condition is good for age. There is wear to the handle and some surface corrosion to bare metal components. The case has some marks to the finish. Internally it is clean and seems to have been kept well lubricated. PLEASE EXAMINE PICTURES. I have tested it to the best of my ability. As there is no blade I made up a blade from a Stanley knife(this is not included as it could be dangerous) My homemade blade cut acceptable sections in wax. Pine and an apple.
