Vintage/Antique Early 1900s Leitz Wetzlar Microscope w/Wooden Case
You are bidding on one lot of one old microscope by Leitz Wetzlar. This has a serial number of 110262 probably dating it to the early 1900s. I do not know much about microscopes personally. But everything seems to move smoothly, including the focus and fine focus, The turret, and the mirror assembly. It tilts back fine as well. There is a lens up top marked 3. And then another lens top without the barrel marked 4. It has a three lens turret but only two are in use. One is a Leitz Wetzlar 3 and the other is a Spencer 4MM 44X. There is an extra Bausch& Lomb 16MM 10X lens but it does not fit. There is a double sided mirror, the looks in good condition, and another assembly with an aperture that swings back and forth under the slide table. There is also another aperture under the slide table that opens and closes with a lever. Has a heavy ... morecast iron base and looks like brass knobs and a brass finish to the main barrel. This item seems well used and has its fair share of scuffs and scratches. Along with finish wear in a number of places. Also comes with a custom E. Leitz Wetzlar wooden case. It has a lock but no key. It is in very good sturdy condition but has scuffs and scratches from use. Leitz Laborlux K Microscope This microscope has been fully. Professionally serviced and is in excellent working order. The optics and mechanics are performing very well across all magnifications and controls. The electrics of the microscope appear to be in perfect working order. Cosmetically, the microscope is in excellent condition- as seen in the images- with only minor signs of wear, expected from a microscope of this age. One condenser thumb screw has sheered off, although I am trying to find a replacement. This is a standard thumb screw than can easily be purchased. I am not anything close to being a scientist so it is completely out of my league to give a really good description. In my novice opinion only all of the lens are in acceptable condition. They may need to be cleaned. We did shine a flash light on the mirror with a dirty cue tip over the hole and were able to see an image. Other than this the item is untested. Basically I wouldn't know how to thoroughly test this item. Both of the eye pieces that you look in slide out and are removable. Please look over all the pictures carefully and make sure this is a good item for you because I will NOT accept a return. E. Leitz Wetzlar Inspection Microscope w. Bausch & Lomb Lenses
I call this an"Inspection" microscope because it is designed to be positioned over some sort of work surface to inspect something rather than having a stage like an ordinary microscope. I do not know if that is the correct term. It has a 10x eyepiece and an objective lens that says"32mm 0.10" It is in focus when the objective is about 1 1/2 inches above the object being viewed. This is just the distance that the microscope is set at when the bottom of the flexable mount is flush with the surface being viewed. as you can see in the next to last picture. The barrel has an extra long extension to allow focusing over a wide range. The pivot arms allow the scope to be positioned up to 9 1/2 inches from the mounting point. It is designed to be mounted on a cylindrical post with a diameter of about 12mm or 1/2 inch. There is ... morea small bulb/light source mounted on the scope. I have not tried to see if it works.
