RARE COPPER SHELLAC MIST SPRAYER ~ 19th C
RARE COPPER SHELLAC MIST SPRAYER ~ 19th C This COPPER MIST SPRAYER pictured here is a rare item today in that it has been outdated for a very long time by more modern methods of applying thin coats of shellac or other finishing materials to a wooden object. This sprayer would have been used commonly in cabinet shops in the late 19th and early 20th century to build a new finish on a wood surface. The can is made of copper. The heavy tin top and blow spout are soldered in place. The Bowl measures 2 3/4 inches in height and about 3 inches in diameter. The cork stopper appears be original. The condition is excellent and unchanged showing a couple of minor dents on one side. There are no repairs or alterations.

This sprayer has an amber glass jar with the markings: MADE IN 63A 8 G(inside a square) 58 3 USA Sprayer measures 11" long and 18.5" long when fully extended and the amber glass jar is 3" in diameter. At the bottom of the brass plunger there is a seal that definitely needs to be changed. The other seals appear to be okay,tried to fill and spray but just drops came out of the wand. The wand has is in good shape with the usual scratches and small dings. The hose is in good shape as is the canister itself. This is a Vintage refillable perfume spray dispenser. Gold tone ribbed metal case. 3 5/8" tall x 7/8" wide. I have left the original empty perfume bottle in the dispenser. So that you know exactly the replaceable size you will need. The inside bottle has a white plastic perfume holder. No not throw it out when you replace the perfume bottle. Keep the plastic piece and the metal top pump spray for your next bottle. Just replace the perfume pump top with this one. To replace the perfume bottle- I just used a pencil bottom eraser to push up(from the bottom hole) and the bottle easily slid out. May be some residual perfume on the inside. This one is a small one too! AND it STILL WORKS when you tilt it down towards the plant and spray! Unfortunately when I come across any of these they're usually all bent up OR the colors are all rusted out OR they no longer have their glass bottles.OR the little wooden handle is missing.thus just not very visually appealing. NOT the case with this one! The colors are still BEAUTIFUL.the wooden handle is still 100% INTACT. and THIS ONE has the GREEN GLASS bottle!
