Both are marked US DES PAT 117934 code 53097. Made in USA. H1 and the other same, but I2. The I2 is a darker shade of Red. Both globes have a few small chips on them They are both approx 7-1/2 inches tall, approx 4 inches wide and about 3-1/4 inches at the base opening and approx 3-3/4 inches on outside of the openings. Two Railway lanterns/ hurricane lanterns. Alternate names include Cold Blast Lamp. One lantern stamped'SMP Quality' From the Sheet Metal Products Company. In 1933 the SMP brand was merged with another to form General Steel Wares Ltd, which is the stamp on the second lamp(GSW Quality) Oil fed lamps became part of the rail industry around 1860. Lamps were hung on trains to indicate the class of train. At cross roads, and within the rail yard to signal to trains. The red glass globe lantern were often used to signal along the rail line or in the rail yard. Cold Blast Lanterns channel fresh air through side tubes and, producing an almost white type of flame with little flicker that is bright and efficient. There is an oil tank on the bottom that forms the base of the lamp. There is a door for filling(blocked on the SMP. Functional on ... morethe GSW) and a knob to increase or decrease the length of the wick which is functional on both lamps. The steel cover is vented to allow the heat to escape. Cincinnati, OH, model C886MR-12. Used, but dome has no fading, scratches or cracks. Light was found with broken blue lens on it, with box containing apparantly unused red lens. Single lamp with rotating lens assembly. No mount. No-name" light that is probably best used for hooking up to a car battery at your next disco party. Up for bid is this awesome vintage Red Beacon. It's made by the Federal Signal and Sign Corp. It runs on 110Volts. It was probably from an old Fire House or something. It works fine. The globe is glass and has a few scuffs on it. But no cracks or chips. It looks like it takes a 1" NPT thread on the bottom for mounting. I put a short cord on it just to test it. Original 1960's Pifco Lantern This is a great 1960's lantern/ torch made by Pifco. The item has a superb design. It has three settings which allows you to either use the red beacon on its own. The spotlight on its own or both together. The lantern is in a nice condition with only light signs of wear. It hasn't been tested but internally looks in order with no signs of battery leaks or water damage. It will need a battery and possibly bulbs but these may be ok still. It has a threaded hole that you cant ake a 1 inch standard threaded pipe and screw into the light fixture. The light uses standard light bulb thread. You can put in a standard house light bulb including a short CFL bulb. The light is very easy to get electric power to. You take your power wires wrap around the 2 screws/ tighten and that will give power to the bulb. There are 2 very small nick's or chips on the side of the globe- see picture with fingers pointing to the marks. These marks in glass are only on the surface- no major damage to the glass or cracks. The rubber ring is in great condition, not cracked/not dry. Threads in the aluminum base are in perfect condition- not stripped. Slight redish tower paint overspray on the alum base. Large 10 1/2" Tall KD Lamp Co. Red Rotary Rotating Emergency Safety Beacon Light
Large 10 1/2" Tall Vintage KD Lamp Co. Red Rotating Emergency Beacon Light Police/Tow Truck/Fire Truck Rotating Works! One Bulb is Burnt Out. The Other Three Work! Up for auction is this very cool vintage rotating emergency light. The light has a metal base that has a rubber ring around the bottom. The red globe is hard. Thick plastic perhaps plexiglass. The rotation works, and three out of the four lights work. I am assuming one of the bulbs is burnt out and needs to be replaced. The light measures approximately 10 1/2 inches tall. The red globe has a circumference of approximately 26 inches. The metal base has a circumference of approximately 30 1/4 inches. The light is in used, vintage condition. There are obvious signs of pitting, rust, and patina to the metal base. The most obvious is pictured in pictures 7, 8, and 10. It appears ... moreas though the rust goes through to the inside of the light(see pics 8 and 10) The red plastic has typical surface scuffs and scratches. The metal base is marked"KD 888" KD LAMP CO" CINCINATTI. OHIO" This marking is somewhat obstructed by the rust/corrosion(see pictures) Please refer to the pictures and ask any questions prior to bidding. I am by no means an expert. But have done my best to point out what I would consider to be noticeable flaws. The light is being sold as is, as pictured. I am only willing to ship to the 48 contiguous states.
