The glass is red with the front being cut out of some sort of metal or tin, please note there is no electrical fittings inside this unit- I am unsure too it's age. Wire is attached by two screws on each socket(+- in line down the left and right side of each ceramics sockets screw. The wood. Screws, cord, white sockets, and the bulbs are old but items I feel are in good shape. Things to know- The plug front, prongs are showings the wire connection no cover. One ceramic socket is crack at the base by the screw hold down. One bulb is missing; I think that is all I can see for its age. This sign came from a old power plant that is torn down now. Hi. Up for auction is a metal EXIT sign. It has glass faces that are painted green and white. It has some surface rust and some paint around the bottom of the base. It has a cord that may have been added to it and it lights up with two 7 or 11 watt bulbs. The same as a clock uses. It was made to sit on top of something but unsure of exactly what. The base measures 11 inches by 5 inches by 1/2 inch tall. The sign measures 10 inches wide by 7 1/2 inches tall by 4 inches deep. It does light up and work as shown in the pictures. Vintage White Glass Exit Light Globe Antique Complete Business Lamp. Works
I'm an electrician and took this light out of an apartment building during renovation and updating. It is beautiful and functioning. Wires are not brittle. I hung one in my house by the back door without rewiring it because I felt from my examaniation the wires were safe. I would say the same about this one except for the liability that goes with that statement. Would I hang it in my house?Without a doubt. There is paint on the metal base the globe fits into. Sounds like paint remover time huh? The screws that tighten to hold the globe are rusty but functional. Wire brush should clean them up with ease. Ask questions now cause its too late after you buy. I think you will be hard pressed to find another in as fine shape as this one.
