This vintage sterilizer was made by the Wilmot Castle Company of Rochester. N.Y. and could be used in the office of a Doctor, Dentist, Tattoo Artist, or anywhere you need to sterilize instruments. This is a counter top sterilizer, and it's pretty heavy. It has a black bakelite on/off switch, chrome plating over brass and operates with a black bakelite handled lever that opens the top and automatically raises a tray which holds the instruments being sterilized. I am selling this item for parts but in the right hands it can be repaired. This Castle Sterilizer Autoclave#777 needs a door gasket installed. I put water in it and turned it on. The timer works the red light comes on and it heats up but steam escapes around the door. There is a gasket that I found with the sterilizer at the estate sale and I believe it fits the door. Three of the four small feet or missing from the bottom of the device(see picture) Also this device is old and the cord has some cuts on it(see picture) Again.Although everything seems to work, the steam still escapes around the door and the pressure will not build up. The black plastic control box broke during the move put it appears that it could be glued back together or of course replaced. The internal components of the box don't appear to be damaged. Vintage Wilmot Castle Professional Autoclave Sterilizer Type 999B
This is a vintage Wilmot Castle professional high pressure steam sterilizer/ autoclave. Type 999B manufactured pre-1959 in Rochester, NY, USA. We don't know exact manufacturing date but the Ritter Company acquired Wilmot Castle in 1959 so we know it was made before that. We actually haven't found another 999B anywhere else on the market. Everyone is selling Type 999C. Also unique about ours is the classic handle that is NOT broken, like so many others you find online. Ours is also pistachio green, a less common, truly retro color of the 50's. This collectible item turns on. Timer works, lights all work, etc. We have not fully tested the sterilization process end to end but expect it works. Measures approximately 19"h x 14"w x 23"d. Looks like a medical equipment collector's dream- doctors. Dentists, medical ... moreoffices, etc- especially since we can't find another anywhere online. Maybe goes in a museum of dentistry somewhere, who knows! Would be awesome to have in a tattoo shop too!
