The meter does not appear to be working. At least I can't generate any meter movement with it plugged in and trying different input settings. The battery contacts inside have some corrosion(no battery present) that needs to be cleaned up, and the shielded box inside that houses the tube componentry needs to be remounted as a couple of the isolation bushings that hold it in place have disintegrated with age. Probably not a difficult repair, and the peanut tube(or tubes, I didn't look inside the shielded box so not sure if there is more than one) and microphone have value on their own. I am unfamiliar with this meter and do not know if it is working properly. It had no batteries in it and so I put 2 new 9 volt batteries in. Please see the photos of the meter; one with switch in battery position and the other with the switch in test position with the calibrator turned on. Calibrator makes a tone when turned on and meter does read the noise level. With the calibrator on the end of the mic the meter read just over 9 in the 100 db position. The batteries in the SPL meter were a bit low. One of them so much so that I won’t be shipping it with the meter. I put fresh batteries in the CA-12 and as you can see with the 211A set on 110dB it almost reads 0 which would be the desired result. If I had to guess with a fresh set of batteries in the 211A it would probably be right on the money. But I can’t preclude the possibility that it will need to be re-calibrated prior to being placed in service. So in addition to the 211A and CA-12 plus the padded case you will get 2 fresh 9 volt batteries plus one that measures a bit over 8 volts. I acquired this Type one meter from Thompson Audiology in Yakima Washington and it had been very well maintained but Jim has retired now and the new owners of the business told me that they were now using a Type 2 Quest 215 meter without a filter to do background noise studies prior to testing. This is a common misconception only a type one meter should be used to check an area before industrial hearing testing. This unit has a built in Octave Filter and has 200 Volt polarization required for some Microphones. The micro phone pictured is not polarized but is flat out to 19K hz.The calibrator included works but needs to be rewired to common 9 Volt battery. This is an integrating SLM with noise exposure feature with noise versus time exposure. Feel free to ask any questions about this meter.

The 902 incorporates a continuously variable 20-20, 000 cps Wien Bridge rejection filter(in three ranges) A high quality tuning capacitor, with 6:1 vernier, eases frequency setting. Less than 0. 7V input is required for measurement. 0. 3% distortion is read full-scale. Internal distortion is less than 0. 1% For IM distortion measurement the 902 incorporates a 7kc oscillator for the high frequency source and an additionally filtered line frequency signal.
