Row width is set at 30" but could be adjusted. This is a 3 point mounted planter with cat 1 pins. Brackets are bolted on and are adjustable. Pins on brackets are low enough so that planter can be raised high enough out of the ground. Even for lower compact tractors. Seeding depth is adjustable with the quick adjust T handle. Planter has new truvee openers and dual guage wheels for accurate seed placement. Press wheels have adjustable down pressure. Seed tubes have sensors installed so that if a monitor wanted to be added at a later date. It could easily be done. This is a wheel driven plateless planter with factory transmission. John Deere 2 Row 3 pt hitch Planter I built this planter from a 4 Row Pull Type Planter This planter has disc openers and new paint. This planter will plant corn. Soybeans or other seeds with the correct plate. Has different set of sprockets to change drive rate for seed. The re are 9 speeds for the seed. As you can see in the pictures. The extra sprockets for the seed are stored in a stand on the end of the planter. This is set up for category 1 hitch. Row width is set at 30 inches. Can be moved out to 40 inches. Will include 2 Sets of Plates with Planter. One for most flats and one for rounds. Item is greased and ready to plant your food crop or sweet corn! Will also plant seeds like green beans or peas with an appropriate soybean plate. Additional plates can be found on ebay or at most seed corn dealers. The model 71 planter was John Deere's Economy Planter at the time they were made and are very easy to build smaller planters from. That's why you see so many advertised at a low price. Drivechains and sprockets are all good, gears and bearings all seem good. It is all greased up, chains oiled and ready to go. It does have the row marker arms and comes with 4 different sets of corn seed plates. I believe it is ready to take home and go to the field and plant corn. Overall it looks to be a pretty decent clean planter, but keep in mind it is an old planter and it is not perfect. It does have some wear on it, but still has lots of life left in it. John Deere 226-247 2 row 3 point corn planter
This is a John Deere 246-247 corn planter in restorable condition. It's not working like it sits. The fertilizer plates are rusted and frozen tight. Will not move at all. There is only one fertilizer hopper and its been repaired as you can see in the picture. It does have a good lid though. The seed hoppers are decent. One has rust through at the base. Both lids are good. The seed parts will move. I think if you either fix the fertilizer part or unhook it. The seeder will work. All chains are good from what I can see. The skids are good and not broken. I'm no expert on these. I bought it to resell. If you want to come look it over I can be around most anytime. Also.
